KDF-46E2000 turns off then back on by its self

My tv has turned its self off and back on twice now. Once yesterday and once today. The power light blinks while the tv shuts down. Last night it shut down for a minute of so, today it shut down for a few seconds then back on. Lastnight the tv was on for a couple of hours and today it was on for about 30 minutes. I had not had any other problems witrh the tv, no have I ever had to chang ethe bulb. The tv was purchased in October 2006. Any help would be great. Thanks

* Most common would be a couple of capacitors in the power supply that are not letting the proper voltage to the lamp.
* The lamp itself is not working properly.

SONY GRAND WEGA KF-50WE610 can't turn on TV screen.

Ths 5 blinks usually indicate an AKB problem. There is a break in the video path. I'll look up your specific model and post the results here. Please update this if you wish to attempt the repair yourself.

Thanks,

Sony 46" lcd turns off by itself and will not power up again.

Sony TVs come with a one year warranty on parts and labor. Call Sony at 1-800-222-SONY They will find a local company to service this product.

These TVs have a self-diagnostic screen that a tech can access to help solve the problem. Your problem could be any number of things including the fan(s) stopping, the ballast board failing, Q-box issue or none of the above.

No picture or sound

3 times error shows that lamp is not installed properly or lamp cover is off / not fixed.

If you replaced TV lamp recently then check lamp cover and make sure to seat it properly.
Need further info, let me know.

Sony KDF-46E2000 - Screen Goes Blank

You definitely have a bad lamp. Sony rates the lamp life at between 4000 and 8000 hours. There are 3 things that effect the lamp life, listed in order of importance:
1) number of times the lamp is turned on and off. Every time the lamp is first fired, it takes life off the lamp. Customers I see that turn the TV on in the morning, leave it on all day and then turn it off on the evening can get up to 12000 lamp hours
2) ventilation. Be sure you have at least 6 inches of open space all the way around the set and that the vents are clear of dust and debris.
3) power. If the power is interrupted when the set is on, there cannot be a proper cool down cycle. The fans will run after you turn the set off to properly cool it down, if the power is lost this cannot happen. If your power is unreliable, buy a small UPS to let the set finish a cool down cycle

Occasionally a lamp will faill before the average lamp time due to being defective. from your purchase date it sounds like you got about average lamp time. Be sure to purchase AN ORIGINAL SONY LAMP as a replacement, becuase the aftermarket lamps are bad news, Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

KDF-60XS955 shuts off intermittingly and red light flashes 5 times.

My KDF 60XS955 turned on and off like the above complaints. I had an appointment with a Sony Repair specialist but thought that since my bulb was getting really old and taking too long to warm up, I would change it before he came and tried to sell me one at retail cost. I then noticed that the set didn't turn off any more. I ran it that way for a week and then decided to put the old bulb back in and see what happened. Within 1/2 hour it had turned off twice so I changed it back and said that fixed it. I cancelled the sony tech and saved some money. I hope this works for some of you also.
