If you have an Ice Maker and/or Water Dispenser with this unit the red light is telling you the water filter is now time to change.

The filter is usually under the front refigerator (behing the bottom cover plate). The filter is about 8" long and 2" wide. Looks kinda like a big white hot dog bun. Remove the filter cover and spin the filter cartridge counter-clockwise and pull it out. A little water will leak but it'll close itself off as soon as it pulls out.
Reinstall the new filter the reverse sequence and run the ice water for 3 minutes or 3 to 5 gallons of water to get all the fatory carbon filter sediment flushed. The light will now turn to green.

Should be all better now.

Can anyone tell me the trick on taking off the plastic cover plate over the ice/water dispenser area? I have tried to look for the tabs to push out and then remove, but it is not working. One of the tabs...

Insert a butter knife between the dispensor grate and the dispensor cover about 1 " from the side and push inward , to unsnap the plastic clip on each side (at the bottom) . Then lift upward , to unhook the top portion of the dispensor cover . There should be a single plug to disconnect to completely remove cover . FIRST , remove the top freezer hinge cap and disconnect the plug there , as this will disconnect the electricity going to the dispensor and avoid any electrifying experience .

Kitchenaid ice dispenser motor not running. it

remove the front cover plate. it can be popped off. you should be able to see the white gear moving. if not wiggle the white gear side to side front to back. if the motor moves you have bad contacts. these contacts are located on the underside of that gear. you can also check voltage to the motor. the inside of the front cover indicates test points for water valve motor etc. if you have power and no movement it is either the motor or contacts. if you have no power this requires further indepth investigation.

We have a KitchenAid [KSRG25FKSS03]. We turned the ice maker off for a period of time and recently turned the switch back to the on position, but now no water is flowing from the black rubber outlet into...

sounds to me that the water inlet line is frozen. If you feel of the black rubber outlet, it will probably have ice in it causing it not to pour water in thus no ice production, Remove your door that is in front of the ice maker and use a blow dryer and thaw the line. Hot water can be squirted up in the line to thaw it quicker and do a more efficient job. Once you clear the line then your no ice days should be over. It may do it again and if it does then you will need to do the same thing again adding replacement of the water inlet valve.

Not making ice

canyou acess theice amker assy itself??
can you look intor the icemaker make sure nothings blocking ice maker from turning(ice cubed jammed in )
look into the fill tube make sure itsnot frozen
thinkin htis machin hasan electronic "eye" if so htere a trouble shoooter under the kickplate explaining the mechanism
lastly theres a white cover plate on the front of the assy. remove the cover and loook at the white gear in the center of unit. look real close at the tabsholding that gear on.MOST common causeof failure is the ice torques the main gear and those tabs snap. if htats the case , replace the ice maker assy.
