Question about Logitech Quickcam Chat Webcam

Can't focus the QuickCamS7500

Picture looks terrible and grainy. No instructions came with the camera and the instructions on the CD are incomplete. Terrible pics and terrible looking movies. The films seem choppy on playback. Moving the wheel on the camera manually does nothing.

Pictures are very grainy and choppy and manual focus does not improve it. Frames freeze for 5 -10 seconds at a time. Can not even identify the other party most of the time. Very frustrating!

  • dehill Jan 27, 2009

Yes - tried both. It has it's own light technology, which we enabled and disabled and also added more light in the room. The auto-focus and focus ring adjustments do not change a thing.

The frames just seem to "stutter" and freeze.

When I take a picture with my Logitech Quick Cam, It shows fuz. How can I get the fuz out of my camera to where it takes pictures like it should?

There's a few things you can do to make it look clearer:
Make sure there is no dust or dirt on the lens, you can clean it with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip if needed.
Make sure the bundled software isn't sent to a filter that causes blurriness.
Try taking the pictures in situations with increased lighting. The sensors in webcams are generally cheaper ones and perform poorly in low light situations.
Please note that unless you have a HD model, the camera is probably taking a relatively low resolution photo that can cause it to look grainy or blurry when viewed.
Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

I have the logitech c200 webcam and it wont show a clear picture. any suggestions?

The ring on the front of the camera is used for focus, just like the manual focus on most older 35mm cameras. Try rotating it back and forth while looking at the image on screen.

Follow the instructions below and it will work.

Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program.

When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the
camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype

http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/

set it up as follows:
Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video picture.
Then, on the bottom of the page click save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and hear you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger

http://www.soft32.com/download_30.HTML

set it up as follows:
Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on "Open the call setup assistant" and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

http://download.live.com/Messenger

After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on " "Show Menus." And then click on "Show the Menu Bar".
Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on " "Action."
Go to "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger:

http://dashboard.aim.com/aim

On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
Next click on Enhanced IM.
Then click on Audio Video.
The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker
Camera
The audio and camera should function now.
Additional information to use with VIM settings.
Adjust Your Audio and Video Settings:
In order to adjust your audio and video settings, please follow the steps given below:
1. Click the Audio and Video Settings button directly below the My Buddy or My Camera window. If you are currently
Participating in an AOL Live Video IM session, a message will display: You must disconnect the current AOL Live Video IM
Conversation before running setup. Would you like to disconnect now? Click the Yes button.
2. The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working
Properly. Follow the on-screen prompts.
Notes:
The first time you use AOL Live Video IM, a message will display: Would you like to first check your audio and video settings? Click the Yes button.
The Audio and Video Tuning Wizard will appear to help you verify that your camera, speakers and microphone are working properly.
Follow the on-screen prompts.
images in AOL Live Video IM may appear reversed, or as a mirror image (text may appear backwards) when you look at your own camera feed or at the
Picture-in-picture (PIP) display.
After making the settings your ready for a chat and video talk with your Family and Friends.
Hope this helps. Bud

Picture quality terrible on Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 Webcam

You should be able to adjust the focus by adjusting the lens. The little housing where the lens is should be able spin a bit. If you gently spin it a bit, it should change the sharpness of the image on the screen.

I hope this help you.

How to use labtec web cam 1200 to work im new to this i just bought it today 7/1/20009 i got a cd with it i would like a written instructions on how it works an how to get it to focus an not be blurry...

You would first install the cd and follow what it tells you to do as far as plugging the camera in is concerned. Then after the cd is finished installing everything, there should be a program for the camera on your desktop where you can control everything from, from focus to contrast and brightness and everything. Hope this works for you

Picture is very grainy - qickcam chat webcam - friends and family can see me, but they say it is VERY grainy

Most QuickCams have a focus ring in front, try turning that to get a sharper image. The other option is that you are running the webcam in a very low resolution, so change the configuration to the highest resolution possible.

The lens has a rotating bezel that controls the focus. While using the webcam so you can see the picture, start turning the lens and it should come into focus.

see if the webcam has a turnable ring around the lens, that is the manual focus

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>- --> Troubleshooting: Image Quality for Cameras trnsp.gif Detailed Description This article covers some standard troubleshooting for issues such as fuzzy, grainy, out-of-focus or off-color camera images. trnsp.gif Answer The information in this article applies to the following software
QuickCam 9.x and below
ImageStudio 7.x and below
Many factors can affect the image quality of your pictures. If you are experiencing blurry images, please try adjusting the focus ring located around the lens. This will allow you to focus the camera image on objects at different distances. Also, make sure there is good lighting. Improving the lighting conditions can improve the image quality considerably.
Connection Issues:
If the image quality is poor while transmitting video over the Internet using video enabled programs such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo! or AOL Instant Messenger, your connection speed to the Internet directly affects the image quality of the transmitted video. Corporate LAN, DSL/cable modem connections will result in the best image quality experience, while dial-up connections may result in choppy and overall poor quality because of the slower connection speed. Even broadband connections such as DSL/cable modem may experience choppy video at times because of Internet traffic or slow upload speeds. If the image appears clearly in the camera software, most likely your Internet connection may be responsible for the poor image quality in your video program.
Changing Display Adapter Settings:
If you are still experiencing a distorted, fuzzy or grainy image, you may need to change the settings for your display adapter. For optimal image quality, please make sure the video display adapter is set to display at least 16-bit high color or higher. To change the color palette please perform the following steps:
  1. Click on "Start," "Settings," and "Control Panel."
  2. Double-click on the Display icon.
  3. Click on the tab labeled Settings.
  4. In the dialog box labeled Color Palette, verify the video mode is set to 16-bit (high color) or 24-bit (true color).
  5. Also, check with the manufacturer of the video card for updated video drivers.
Low Light Boost:
If you cannot do anything to improve the lighting situation, some Logitech video cameras have an option for "Low Light Boost." If there is an option for "Low Light Boost," try enabling the "Low Light Boost" in the QuickCam software. To do this:
  1. Open the QuickCam software.
  2. At the bottom right hand corner of the camera image box, click on the arrow next to the QuickCam icon.
  3. Choose "Advanced Camera Settings".
  4. Under the Image Enhancement box, place a check mark in the "Low Light Boost" option.
  5. If that does not improve the image quality, try adjusting the other image settings, such as contrast, saturation brightness, gain and white balance.
  6. Click OK when your are done.
