What are the points to consider before buying a baby stroller?

With some experience, we would suggest

- weight (in and out of the car for Mum)
- foldability (ease, and going in the car neatly)
- stability (the 3-wheel designs are suspect)
- sensitivity to loads (will a bag hanging on the push bar topple it backwards?)
- steering (will it go where you point it?)
- storage (can you put stuff underneath?)
- price (some brands are comically expensive)
.

When can i start giving baby food to my child?

Most doctors and health agencies suggest waiting about 6 months before introducing baby food in babys' diets. Usually they suggest waiting for signs of his being ready, like sitting up without help and active interest in food that others are eating.

Is it ok to eat chocolate while you are breastfeeding? I heard that it wasn't but I find that hard to believe.

Even though it sounds really strange, some women find that eating chocolate while breastfeeding makes their babies really gassy and miserable. It's not true for all women so you don't need to automatically give up chocolate. You should just know that it might cause some side effects and that the darker and better quality the chocolate is, the harder it is for the baby to digest it.

Are there different types of toddler beds or a standard type in different styles?

There are quite a few varying types of toddler beds in the market. The first kind I will mention is a convertible crib. The great thing about a convertible crib is that it will last much longer. Some parents also find that a convertible crib eases the transition phase. Next there is the "captain bed" also known as a storage bed. This bed has built-in compartments everywhere - under the bed frame, in the footboards, even in the headboards. There are other types of toddler beds such as loft toddler beds, futon toddler beds, and platform toddler beds; however I think they are less popular and ultimately less safe for your toddler.

A baby wipe is a moistened piece of cloth used for cleaning infants. Baby wipes are for parents and convenient and hygienic. Some parents choose to make their own baby wipes while others purchase baby wipes that are commercially produced. While the ingredients vary from brand to brand, the ingredients in most commercial baby wipe solution are detergents, moisturizing agents, preservatives, and fragrance. Water carries and dilutes the baby wipe ingredients. Detergents Baby wipes contain mild detergents called amphoteric surfactants. The detergents reduce skin irritation and are less irritating to the skin near the ****. The amopheric surfactants are comparable to the detergents that are used in baby shampoo. Most commercial baby wipes use the surfactants sodium diamphoacetate and coco phosphatidyl PG-dimonium chloride. Huggies Natural Care Baby Wipes uses the surfactants potassium laureth phosphate and polysorbate 20. Moisturizing Agents Moisturizing agents, humectants, are added to the cleansing liquid of baby wipes to prevent the solution from drying. The moisturizers also help the skin stay moisturized. Many baby wipes use propylene glycol and glycerin. In addition, mineral oils, silicones and lanolin are added for moisture control. Tushies Baby Wipes with Aloe Vera uses glycerin, allantoin and panthenol as a moisturizer and lubricating compound. Preservatives and Fragrance Many commercial baby wipes contain preservatives to prevent microbial growth. These preservatives include propyl paraben and methyl. Pampers Swipers Baby Wipes contain the preservative iodopropyl butylcarbamate while Tushies Baby Wipes contains potassium sorbate as a natural preservative. Some baby wipes also contain fragrance, such as vanilla, to prevent body odors and attract consumers to the product. Some baby wipes are fragrance free. Natural Ingredients Some baby wet wipe manufacturers feature ingredients to increase their appeal to consumers. Some baby wipes will contain natural ingredients such as vitamin E, aloe vera or oatmeal extract. Many times the Vitamin E in baby wipes will be in the form of Tocpheryyl acetate. Some baby wipes may contain special ingredients like chamomile, cucumber, green tea or lavender, which may be soothing to the skin. The manufacturer will promote these types of baby wipes as a natural product to attract buyers. 8_9_2012_9_23_06_am.jpg

I don’t wear very much make-up, so I’m probably safe, right?

Unfortunately, that is not a safe assumption, because we're talking about more than make-up. Even baby bubble bath can contain toxic chemicals!

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is focused on making deodorant, toothpaste, hair gels, shampoos and all the other grooming products that men, women and children use safe for consumers and the environment by removing toxic ingredients. Reducing the amount of products you use will reduce your overall exposure, but the goal is to make all personal care products safe for everyone to use.
