Sudden problems saving music to a CD-R
Pull the cd drive look at the back smell it make sure its not burning up easy to check on the back of laptop there is a pic of a disk unscrew that screw gently tug or pry it out with laptop off not in hibernation mode pull it out look at the back of cd drive and look inside the cd bay with flash light look for darkness on connectors smell inside cd bay try that 1st making sure it is working correctly and power up laptop witout cd drive connected let it see it without it in then after boot shut down put cd drive back in and restart ok try that

Then might have a problem,if is it still in warranty you should return it to your dealer(have you tried formatted the blank cd first?many programs such nero or alcohol gives that option)

It would be due to a virus problem which has corrupted your os..Try inserting your os disk at boot and then restart and the press del or tab or f8 key at the bios setup page and then goto advanced bios options and change the primary boot device to disk drive and change the secondary boot device to hard disk and then save changes and reboot,now your laptop boots from the disk and you can reinstall your os..Hope this helps you..All the best..

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart (note after you have loaded the operating system you must go back and change the first boot device to your hard drive) The BIOS is AMI. Under ADVANCED SETUP:
After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or
you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark?! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
The options listed for 1st,2nd ,3rd Boot device include:
IDE-0 means Pri master ?
IDE-1 means Pri slave ?
IDE-2 means Sec master ?
IDE-3 means Sec slave ?
