Two solutions...

1. Wrong needles (eye size) for your machine

2. Bobbin tension not tight enough.

You should a set screw and adjustment for tightening the tension on machine.

Basic... thread getting too loose to stay in needle properly.

Why does the stitches skip when I'm sewing?

Needle old or bent, incorrect size. Incorrect thread for material, packed with lint. The sewing foot is not on correctly or the needle is not pushed in high enough. Old thread. Hope this helps.

My overlocker is skipping stitches, I have re threaded it and replaced the needles and oiled it, it is still skipping stitches. any ideas as there is nothing else in the manual to tell me what to do>

Check to make sure you have the right needles and that the thread and needles are compatible. Usually, coverstitch machines use a slightly longer needle than overlockers and sometimes people get them confused. Also, it might have something to do with the fabric you are overlocking. Try stitching a different kind of fabric and see if it is still a problem.

Coverlock skipped stitches

I'm assuming this is a domestic overlocker machine and not an industrial coverlock. Getting the coverlock stitch to sew out evenly without skipping can be problematic apparently with these.

First, if you are sewing a knit fabric, change the needles to ball points and see if this resolves it.

If not, I would suggest trying EX705 needles (assuming that your machine takes the regular domestic 130/705H needle system). The EX are just extra long scarf at the back which helps with securing the stitch on the underside. There is also a SUX needle, which is same long scarf but a stretch needle; for knits particularly those with elastane in them.

Thread wise, try Maxilock brand. You may find a wooly overlock thread on the underside works too.

4 thread overlock --right needle skipping stitches randomly. I've put in new needles, changed threads, etc. The stitch is beautiful just skipping a stitch randomly when sewing.

Sounds like the loopers are slightly out of line or the needle bar is twisted. Unfortunately these adjustments are not easily made. Suggest you take it to an authorized husqvarna viking dealer for service. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page -
Good luck.

My Evolve serger is skipping stitches while using the 4 thread safety stitch which is a chain stitch with a two thread overlock. Sews fine for a few stitches and then skips a loop which unravels. I checked...

First, change the needles making sure to use the el705 needle system. Second, make sure the subsidiary looper is engaged properly (plugging up the upper looper hole). Also make sure the needles are all the way up in the machine. This should do it or it may need to be adjusted but the Evolve is a very, very reliable machine. Hope this helps...

Bernina 1300 dc overlocker skipping stitches

Make sure the chain stitch thread is threaded exactly as it should be, make doubly sure the thread comes off the bobbin vertically and runs through all eyes smoothly. Any faults in the threading causes extra tension at the needle despite what the tension is set on.
If this is not the cause then the needle depth and the looper timing needs checking.
