SOURCE: dell monitor enters power save

try to reconnect the cables to ensure it's properly plugged in (if you have another monitor, you can try it to ensure that your system is running properly) If you narrow it down to a monitor problem, it's most likely the inverter/power supply board in the monitor. If it's covered under warranty, you can send it back to Dell and they should send you a refurbed unit. If not, the board can be as expensive as finding a decent used monitor on ebay that works.

SOURCE: How do I remove the back cover on a Dell 2407 WFP?

Hi, I can't offer you a fix for your overheat problem, but here's how to get into the 2407WFP!

Place the monitor face down on the bench. Remove the four screws from the back.
Turn the monitor over and lay on its back. With your fingertips gently ease the front bezel from the glass, starting far away from the buttons and not putting too much pressure on the glass. It comes away with a series of clicks.
I managed this easily, but if your fingers aren't strong enough you could use a lever (you MUST spread the load on the glass so as not to break it, and avoid doing too much damage to the plastic of the bezel!)
Work your way all the way round snapping the bezel from the front, but don't completely remove it as this will strain the ribbon cable from the buttons.
Lift the screen and rest it on one edge, and you will find the back starts to come free from the insides.
Carefully lay it flat on its bezel again and lift the main rear casing away.

You are in! To get at all the boards:
Undo the 8 gold-coloured screws from around the edge of the central metal cover (not the four which hold the VESA-mount in place) and all three covers can then be removed to expose the backlight inverter board, power supply board (very similar to the one in the 2405FPW, see related articles if the PSU is your problem), main controller, and USBhub/card reader PCB.

Hope that helps you - now to find out why it's bust!

SOURCE: Dell 2407 WFP monitor Flash Memory Card Reader does not

if on the card it is written SDHC then it means that the card reader doesn't support SDHC cards, for 100% compatibility try a 2/4 Gb card with only SD markings on it not SDHC.

most likely capacitor problem as these caps only have a 25000-40000 hour life span. when you do replaace the monitor , turn it off when not at the computer. even though it goes into sleep mode there is still a current running through the unit cuz if you move the mouse or hit button on keyboard display wakes up. I know this because I have done boad level repair on panels

The monitor just made a pop and no longer works. How do you take apart to check if there is a fuse

2407 is almost the same as 2408 picture I have here, just be real careful not to move the front bezel too far from the chassis or you will break the cable! Use thin flat blade screw driver or special tool as shown in the video and work around the bezel REAL SLOW!

How to open dell monitor cover model E207WFPc

Remove the Stand, Remove the 4 Screws from behind the spot where the stand connects to, then take a flat ended object such as a butter knife or a sharp knife, and unclip the black face. then the screen comes right apart, this solution is also the same for the 20xx-30xx Dell WFP Models.

No composite input signal

`Hi,
If the monitor is making the noise , the monitor circuit baord has gone bad.
If you have purchased the monitor on a seprate order from dell it would be covered under 3 yr warranty. If the same has been bought with the Dell computer , it would hold the computer warranty. would request you call the manufacturer.

Before you call Dell , you can try the following things
1. Disconnect call cables from the back of the montior
2. Press the power button a couple of times in the front of the monitor to drain any resident charge
3. Reconnect the power cable
4. check if you see the monitor self test running and if the noise is still there with there

Thanks
