Heater controls don't work

My buttons on the heater control for changing the heat from defrost to vent to the floor do not work, it basically blows out all three areas at the same time. What is the problem.

The aperage at start up when you turn on the heater are to great. The load at start up is greater than when it is actually running which in my opinion means the load is greater than the EH40 amperage rating is. In short term, the EH40 contacts are not able to handle the load. You need a higher rated control, it wasn't sized up correctly by your vendor,

Sauna wont get hot enough

When I'm in a traditional sauna like this, I expect the temperature to be between 70 and 90C so that's what I assume you are trying to reach. There could be several reasons for this so make sure each point is checked:
1. Stating the obvious, to increase the temperature inside the sauna, you'll have to ladle water onto the hot sauna stones.
2. Maybe the insulation within your sauna isn't good enough and heat is escaping.
3. Your sauna room could be too big for this heater to heat properly.
4. Maybe the element on the heater isn't performing properly and needs to be replaced.

These were some pointers which Di Vapor gave as possible reasons for lack of heat.

I have a large walkin freezer and the compressor and heat strip come on at the sametime, I have to disconnet the compressor when the defrost comes on. Im not sure what wire goes where.

Open following links for 8145-20 wiring diagram and resources:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/8145-20-wiring-350.jpg
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#defrost

8145-20 is 240Volt defrost timer.
Heat strip and compressor should not activate at same time.
As a general rule heater connects to NO terminal 3 and compressor connects to NC terminal 4
NC terminal 3 compressor is on all the time until defrost cycle begins.
NO terminal 4 heat turns on when defrost cycle begins, and at same time NC terminal 3 compressor turns off.
At then end of the defrost cycle, NO terminal heat turns off and NC terminal 3 compressor turns on again.

I need to replace a Frididaire Defrost Timer for a 15cuft topmount frig. I bought the timer from Frigidaire with PN#4092799. The guy on the phone at Frigidaire told me that it is behind the control knob...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.
Actually... You may have bought the incorrect part to repair your refrigerator. The symptom your describing is most often caused by the defrost heater element itself being open. (<-Burned out) The reason I say this is your unit is shutting off.... starting the defrost cycle... but NOT terminating the cycle until the compartment reaches 60 deg F. The fact that it restarts at 60 Deg F is telling you the defrost timer control AND the defrost bi-metal 60 deg F thermostat are both working normally. I would bet if you removed the evaporator coil access panel in the back of the freezer compartment that you would immediately notice the heating element in the glass tube UNDER the evaporator coils has failed or... one of the wires on the end of the heater has failed. It is not difficult to gain access to the evaporator coils. You remove all racks in the freezer compartment and ALL of the screws including the one usually under the light cover and the panel is pulled toward you from the TOP. To remove the light cover there are 2 tabs on one side of the plastic cover that you gently squeeze the cover to release it. The problem can be the defrost timer but... as you described the symptoms; I seriously doubt it.
If in the future you need more assistance PLEASE respond with your MODEL number so we can discuss exact repair procedures applicable to your unit.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Just bought a house and it has a grundfos timer/pump attached at the hot water tank. I have no hot water and the timer doesn't turn (as I've seen other timers do). Is it supposed to turn so that the...

Grundfos is a sealed unit and not a repairable item.
The timer dial should turn.
And pins located around dial control ON-OFF functions as timer dial rotates.
geno_3245_93.jpg

Does the receptacle have power?
If receptacle has power, and Grundfos is not working, then it is broken.
Grundfos manuals for UP series pumps do not show breakdown or parts list of any kind.
http://www.us.grundfos.com/web/download.nsf/Pages

Bigger question:
Why don't you have hot water?
Is water heater functioning?
Water heater is a separate appliance from Grundfos pump.
Grundfos pump circulates hot water from tank into the lines so there is no waiting for hot water ... but hot water heater should still make hot water.

Add a comment about water heater if that is also a problem.
You could have 2 problems, and water heater is main issue.

I am installing an intermatic t104m with firemans switch.I hooked up the switch to the pool heater and no power to heater?

Add a comment and provide more information.
A lot of factors need to be narrowed down.

Did everything work fine before connecting fireman burn-out protection switch?
What happens when you disconnect switch?
Is the timer rotating?
Does the manual override work?
Is this a new installation?
This sounds like a dual T-104 pool timer that controls more than the heater, what else is controlled, and do the other Loads work correctly?

Can i use the timer for a water headter to trun on and off

Paragon 8145-20 is a 240V defrost timer
It is probably not best choice for water heater timer
Timer initiates defrost cycles each 4 hours.

A water heater timer should have more scheduling options.
-For example estimates show average run-time for water heater is 3 hours per day, depending on incoming water temperature, thermostat setting, and number of gallons used.
-To save money using water heater timer, you have to schedule times carefully so water heater runs less than 3 hours per day.
-Now your average electric water heater heats about 20 gallons per hour.
-Average shower uses 4-9 gallons hot water, so water heater needs to run 15-30 minutes (15 summer, 30 winter)
-Average bath uses 12-15 gallons hot water so water heater runs 45-60 minutes
-But lets say you run water heater for 1 hour and make 20 gallons of hot water. Then you take a shower, expecting hot water to remain in tank.
-Here's the problem ... cold water entered the tank to replace the shower water ... and the new cold water is cooling the rest of the tank.
-So a timer means scheduling hot water to match shower and bath events. For example taking shower and bath in immediate succession.
-Or set the timer for each individual hot water event ... for example set timer for 1/2 hour for shower, and later timer turns on 1 hour for bath, or 1-1/2 hr for 2 baths, etc
-> The flexible programming described above is not a characteristic of defrost timers.
I suggest Intermatic WH-31 240V or Intermatic T-104 240V or GE 15207. These are mechanical repeat-24 hour timers with manual override where each day has same schedule.
Digital programmable timers like Intermatic EH40 offer 7-day, 40 event programming. Weekends and weekdays can be different.

Heil heater keeps turning on and then shutting right off. Reset interior and exterior breakers to no avail. When the unit will kick on heat does come from vents

How long do burners stay on? If they go out within a few seconds, the flame sensor may need to be cleaned. The control board you have shown is probably doing it's job by shutting down and something else is causing this. Always check your air filter first. More info needed.
