There are several things that can keep your Compressor from starting. You may want to post the Model number of your refrigerator and move that dandy beer to a Refrigerator that works so that it can stay dandy. ;-)
Compact refrigerators that have a freezer compartment do not have seperate controls since they are cooled by the same evaporator and it is not designed to reach true freezer temperatures. It should get cold enough to freeze water for ice. If it were allowed to get much colder there would be problems preventing the refrigerated section from getting too cold. Therefore, you will have to find a setting that provides a good compromize. You should be able to keep frozen dinners and such cold enough to prevent them from thawing but I would not store meats too long in that freezer and ice cream will get soft.
