My machine is doing the same thing. It will look to the module, but will not recognize either the preprogrammed designs or the card inserted.

When the embroidery module is plugged into the machine, I get a message in the emb. software that says "embroidery module is not attached." Also, the screen on the machine does not change to the pictures of the module and the teddy bear. If a board needs to be replaced, could you give me the approximate cost? Thanks.

Anytime there is a communication issue between machine and module attach the module to a different machine and check it. Possibly at a dealership. This will tell you whether its the machine or module. If its the machine then the soldering points on the embroidery module plug to the A-print (on the side of the machine) circuitboard need to be checked. Then most likely replace the A-print circuitboard.
There are other tests that need to be done in the service program that will help pinpoint and troubleshoot issues with the embroidery unit. Such sensors or stepping motors, etc. Should be left to a tech.
Hope I helped.

I have a Bernina Artista 180 with embroidery module. I put in the plug in the wrong direction once and now it will not connect the module to the sewing machine. Can this be fixed?

It is very likely that when you attempted to connect the embroidery unit with the plug out of alignment that you would have bent some of the pins on the male side of the plug. It is possible, though not advisable, to straighten the pins in this pug. However, if not done perfectly, this could cause further damage to both the male and female sides of the plug. I would recommend taking it in to a local BERNINA dealer and repair center to have that cable replaced just to be safe.

The fault is coming from the side board where you plug your embroidery unit, it is called a com port part 004 531 7000. Bernina had issued a update bullitin to this part. check with a good bernina and they may still cover it under warranty . all the best

Using a bernina gold latch bobbin case on the Bernina 435 machine

There isn't a Bernina 435. If you are referring to the 430 than the gold latch bobbin case will not work in that machine. If you are talking about the Bernina 450 the gold latch will work in that machine, with or without the embroidery module.

180E Hoop problem

Joan, there are 3 micrositches on your embroidery unit arm. these switches are depressed when you attach the hoops, it appears from your comments that one switch is not functioning. This could be simple, it is out of alignment or more complex it is broken. Either way you need to take it to a professional for repair.
