Hunter makes a lot of thermostats for a lot of different kind of systems. If you describe what kind of system you have (Gas furnace, heat pump etc.) we could probably tell you how to hook it up.

G to G ; R to Rc&Rh : O to Y/O; White Wire to W/B; Y to Y1;
L-Black is not used it was for a service lite
C-Blue will not be used it was the common wire

Is this a heat pump? Look in the thermostat. You should have something like the following.
Red wire to R terminal
Green wire to G terminal
Yellow wire to Y terminal
White wire to W or W1
Blue or Orange wire to the O or B terminal
Brown wire to C terminal.

Let me know what you have in the thermostat. The wire colors are not always the same.

Rheem heat Pump model number RQPMA049JK Hunter Programmable thermostat When hooked up to thermosat with wiring code in manual it heats in cool mode. There is no setting on the thermostat to reverse...

does it not have a reveres switch at the bottom of the unit or if its the programmable type you must program both for heat and cold and the auto temp in the head will change when it needs to. However these are tricky to set up so if you want a step be step procedural let me know and I will give it to you plus there color codes. to boot.

Where does the blue wire go on the Hunter thermostat 42995B

Without further info, the blue wire is normally the common wire, and connects to the terminal marked "c". It's best to check the terminal board at the unit and match up the colors and letters that way.

Wiring Hunter Thermostat to 6 wire Carrier fa4bnf036

you probably purchased a 4 wire thermostat which we call heat/cool you stated you have 6 wires which signifies a heat pump you have to purcahase a heat pump thermostat and then write down the color of the wires to there related spots example...yellowe-y red-r white- w and so forth also before you do this kill the power the voltage typical for residential is only 24v's but if the wires touch you could blow a fuse

I have 5 wires, white, red, yellow, blue and green and am trying to install the Hunter programable thermostat model 44360. I am not sure which wires connect to what...help.

The standard code is red is power or [R] on your t-stat, yellow is cooling or [Y], blue is common or [C], and green is fan or [G]. This is standard across U.S.A. if the installer, installed it correctly. I as a rule of thumb look in the air handler to make sure the colors are correct. I always tell my techs. that elec. doesn't any color and this could you from burning up your t-stat. Plus, while your in the a/h you can make sure your blue common wire is connected. You will need this to run your programmable t-stat. If you are replacing a reg. t-stat then it might not be in use, but without it your running the t-stat on battery back up.

Thanks for the response, to be more specific, the nine pin connector was damaged, but I was able to connect the wires back to main unit panel. I am ready to hook to the hunter thermostat and do not know which wires to connect to. This is my problem and I do not want to short something out. Hope this helps, I want to get it installed again. Thanks again for caring....Jerry
