My sound is good, video out for another monitor is good along with selecting channels. Have a scrambled screen similar to old blk/wht sets where you had to fine adjust the tuner knob. The lines kind of go at a slight angle up from the right and it seems like it is trying to make the picture but can't. I'd rather not use this huge thing as a cable box for a smaller tv. I do have a good fluke meter but that is about it for test equip. I do have VS-60803 for parts although I don't think any interchange.

Re: scrambled picture mitsubishi VS-60805
Are you using your component video cables? if you are check to see if you are using the correct inputs. Look at the babck of your TV and see if the RGB (Lettering) matches with the box you are connecting to. What I am talking about is the YP(b)P(r) vs the YC(b)C(r) they are incompatable with each other.
Check that and if that is the case either match the two proper RGBs up or use another interface.

Hi, Mitsubishi VS-60805 is 1999 model tv and unable to receive digital cable channels because it is equipped with analog tuner that can not receive cable channels because it is almost 11 years old. You need to hook Cable Box in AV input of tv, plug digital cable in cable box and get digital cable channels in tv. Cable box has its own remote control and inbuilt digital tuner to receive all digital cable channels and widely available in Store, Radio Shake, amazon.com etc. Let me know if you have additional question. Thanks.
Since this is an older first generation (1999) HD TV it may not be compatible with newer HDTV receivers because the standards back then were different - Make sure the HD cable box is plugged into the HD component inputs on the back of the TV (not the DVD inputs) and that the menu setting on the TV is set to DTV (not RGB) video. This TV will only accept 480i and 480p signals on the DVD input. Also the HDTV input will only accept 480i,480p and 1080i (it will not work with a 720p signal, make sure your cable box is not set to that mode)
What you probably see is a burning area due to Cooling Fluid leaking from one of the CRTs. If this is the case, It is not worth fixing in my opinion because the Board would have to be replaced and the leaking CRT would also have to be replaced. The availability of the Board is doubtful Due to it's age. You can check at 1800-553-7278. This is Mitsubishi's parts department #.
Hope this helps,
I had the same problem with the same model. If you pull the cover off the speakers in the front , then the small black panel. looking from the front past your lamps are the 3 main boards, the r/h board has wire jumpers connecting to the center board. The set that is closest to you had a bad/loose/corroded connection on mine. All I did was resecure connection(try moving them with your fingertip) and turn TV on and check.
