Have the same problem. I'm pretty handy, so i tried to take it apart. But there are 2 security screws in the bottom that need a special tool, so i'm stuck for now.

Everything was working fine, I thought! I got up to make coffee a few days ago and Nothing! It never had any problems, no strange sounds before it stopped working. It leaked out the bottom a small amount but not enough that I was concerned. Now that it's stopped working completely..., I'm concerned!

Same problem here. Local Cuisinart repair guy stopped warranty work for them a few months ago. Said he would order the parts but I would need to do the work myself. So, after removing many screws from the base I found two "security" screws that need a special tool. We liked the machine, which we've had for a few years, but I hate to just toss this one and buy another - what a waste. I think I'll take it to the repair place anyway just to see if they have the tool. I'll report back with any solutions they may have.

Just wanted to thank the user who said he'd called the Cuisinart 8080 number and was told about the one-hour reset time!!!!!! I'd had mine unplugged for two days, just now plugged it in and Holy Toledo it works. What a save. These things are very expensive and I just bought two replacement pots.....

Tried ALL solutions on this & other blogs-even to point of CAREFULLY drilling out plastic to get bit-holder down to the 'MAGIC FASTENER' level and then trying: #10 TORX; ## 7-10 TORX; 'security TORX(with hole in middle) & several other 'secret bits'---ALL TO NO AVAIL !!!!! :0(
then, in SHEER DESPERATION, called Cuisinart @ 800-726-0190 [this is on SAT morning 0915 on 3/28/09] got VERY HELPFUL/KIND/PATIENT rep who was ready to do the " $10 +old one AND $10 for new one" routine, when she said: "Did you try re-plugging into wall socket after 1 hour? That's the re-set time" !!! while she was on the line (they work 'til 1730 EDT on SAT/SUN & 'til 1100 M-F !!!) wife tried this highly-technical/super-secret solution -and- IT #$%^*'ING WORKED !!!!!! ;0) I'm sitting here drinking coffee outta it and posting this solution.

Every morning this week I've had to unplug my DCC-2000 and plug it back in, until one morning I moved it to an outlet that has a reset button on it, that way I can just press the reset button. I don't know if this is a good permanent solution, but it gets me thru the morning.

This actually worked. Maybe it's the faster way to reset? I tried pushing the three buttons but it didn't work so I tried pushing the reset button on the wall outlet and the DCC-2000 was ready for business! Thanks!

Alright, here's what I did: Used a hairdryer for a few minutes, then held down the 3 small silver buttons on the front until the power was restored (clock on). Then, decided that moisture was getting in to the electronics throught the empty/full gauge. So, I cut the gauge lever (attached to the coffee resivoir) and patched the hole with foil tape (like used on a/c ductwork). Now it works :)

Did it lose power completely, or is the unit still on, just not brewing. If that is the case it could be related to one or both of a fusible type link inline with the heating element. This is there to prevent the machine from burning up if there is an electrical issue. Typically there is at least one, but on the Cuisinarts that I have owned, there are 2 fusible and 1 thermal switch. I have had to bypass each on the fusible ones over 2 seperate occasions and now rely on the thermal switch.

The parts to repair a problem of this magnitude are generally not available. The DCC-2000 has a thre-year warranty. I would call Cuisinart and see if you can get an in-warranty replacement. I have a high opinion of cuisinart and their products, but this particular coffeemaker, I do not personally reccomend.

We've had a Cuisinart DCC-2000 coffee maker for less than a year: 1) it stops brewing about halfway through the brewing cycle (with plenty of water still in the reservoir, and 2) the "Clean" light

This problem is caused by a clogged water filter in the unit.

Unplug the coffee maker.

Open the top panel where you normally pour in the water and set the coffee filter.

Gently pull up on the tap that sticks up in the back left corner of the open top. This will free a long plastic part that has a compartment at the bottom that contains a filter filled with charcoal.

Unsnap the small compartment that holds the filter and clean it gently under running water with light brushing.

If there is a lot of coffee build-up, the water chamber where you normally pour in fresh water needs to be cleaned out. Pour in a cup of water and invert the unit over a large sink pouring out the water through the opening you normally use to fill the unit.

Repeat this until you remove the coffee grounds.

Let the unit dry fully before plugging in to run again.

I have a cuisinart DC-2000 programable coffee maker and when I plug it in it won't power on. I have tried different outlets to no avail.

Mine did the same. It has a short, cost to much to fix, cheaper to buy new. If unit is under 3 years old cuisinart will replace under warranty for $10 shipping charge. 1-800-726-0190

My two year old Cuisinart 14 cup just started smoking from out of where cord comes out. Is there a recall on this. There are a ton of complaints that they catch on fire

Here is a link to the Cuisinart support site: http://www.cuisinart.com/support/us.html

After unpluging the coffee maker and making sure that no one will attempt to use it please contact Cuisinart to see if the DCC-2200 is on the recall list. If it is not, you should consider installing a new power cord with at least 14 gauge wire....this is assuming that you are comfortable doing this sort of repair. Otherwise, replace the coffee maker! Fires from electrical problems are responsible for too many deaths to take any chances with an appliance that smokes when plugged in!

Broken "on/off" switch. Told to pay to have the machine shipped?

I guess it depends where you live. My DCC 2000 stopped working ("on" switch doesn't turn on unit), so I called Cuisinart customer service. She initially told me to ship it to them (at my expense) for a free replacement. I told her I live in CA, then she told me she would send me a UPS prepaid shipping label to return the unit. I'm going to just return the unit to the retailer and get a replacement that way since Cuisinart told me they are backordered on this model due to all the problems with it.

Apparently, CA has better consumer protection laws than the rest of the country. Woo Hoo.

My almost 2 yrs old Cuisinart DCC 2000 coffee maker just stop working suddenly. The pre-set time was melfunction on every Sunday for about a month before it went dead completely now. There is a 3 yrs...

Try this and let me know if it works - plug the coffeemaker in, turn the function knob to BREW, and then press all 3 buttons in the center of the coffeemaker (the 1-4 button, et, etc) and hold them for a few seconds. Let me know if the clock display comes back on.

If not, call Cuisinart and see if it is in-warranty by serial number 1-800-726-0190.

Cuisinart Coffe Maker has no power

Cuisinart replaced the coffee maker. It was still under the 3 year warranty so Cuisinart told me to take it back to one of the stores that sells Cuisinart coffee makers because the store I bought it at was going out of business.
