Not all burned DVDs are compatible with all home DVD players.

Some things to do to help compatibility:

1. Use only DVD+Rs.
2. Burn at a slower speed (4x or below).
3. Make sure the software you are using to burn the DVD creates a menu. Most DVD players won't be able to play a DVD unless there is a menu; usually you can tell the software to skip the menu if you want but it still must be encoded onto the DVD.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate this solution with a fixya rating. :c)

Burned cd will only play on my computer. How do I get it to play other places

It depends what setting you used to burn the disc. Some will only play on certain players. Many people don't also have the right CODECS to play video files with their media players. But they can download CODEC packs from the internet for free.

I CAN BURNER MOVIES BUT CAN NOT PLAY THE ON DVD PLAYER

In order to burn a DVD that you can play on your DVD player, your video files need to be encoded in MPEG-2 format. If prompted how to format your DVD, if you are in the USA, then the NTSC format works well, if not in the US you will want to use the PAL format.

Hope this helps you.

BurnRdeluxe. just installed, how do i burn a dvd

if you want to burn a movie in a stand alone dvd player you need to convert the avi to dvd .vob format first.

If your dvd can play divx along with vob (dvd) format then just burn the avi using the data dvd function you maybe able to put 3 or 4 movies on a 4 gig dvd. This will not work on a stand alone dvd player.

How Do I Burn A Video File To A DVD So ITll Play On A DVD Player

In Windows, there are numerous ways to do this. The most simple way is to use Windows Movie Maker. This is a free app that comes with Windows XP (and presumably Vista). Simply open this application\ and IMPORT the video file into the project. The buttons and prompts will walk you through the rest of the process of burning the DVD.

What format are you burning the disc in, NTSC or PAL? What format does your DVD player read? You may try tweaking that setting to see if that works.

Nero 6 and 7 does not provides us the facilitiy of burning the DVD in appropriate DVD Format. Instead it burns the DVD in the normal DATA Format, which is not supportable by our DVD Player. To play the DVD in our DVD Player we should burn the DVD in the appropriate DVD Burner which itself converts the extension of the movie and make it proper for a DVD Player to read it. It also adds some files to the DVD which is sometimes used by the dvd player in running the DVD.
