Question about Jensen MCD5110 CD Player

1 Answer

Mcd5110 marine radio cd player

This has been in my boat for a couple years now.... Last year one set of speakers (left side) stopped playing. This year the other side stopped. I know the connections and speakers are fine. I now have it out of the boat and wired to anothrer set of speakers on my workbench. Still nothing...I have tried the Balance and Fade settings to no avail. How could the sound just stop like that. I am not aware of any MUTE feature. I wonder if anyone else has had a simuliar problem and I wonder if I should persue Jensen for a is out of warranty. Any help would be appreciated. Gary

Re: mcd5110 marine radio cd player

Gary, Sounds like channel 1 burnt out then channel 2 on the internal amp of the radio. If you are looking for another Jensen as a replacement they are decent for a lower priced radio. However if you are not operating your boat on salt water you could use a regular car unit. I replaced the radio in our boat with an generic import and I couldn't be happier. I bought something similar to this model here not bad for just over 100 bux add 150 for a LCD and watch TV and dvd's in the boat too! although if your lake house is like mine there are only 2 channels to watch :( Hack

Disconnect all the speaker leads and then hook one speaker (a new, known to work speaker) up directly to the radio using a short (6"-12") piece of speaker wire. Does that speaker work then?

Kenwood KTS-300MR

you need to firstly trace the speaker wires to the unit to make sure there connected first. if they are then its a job for a car audio expert ( if there is such a thing) if the unit is connected to correctly to the speakers then there is an internal fault ..

I have a jvc system on my boat. It worked fine

Check all the wiring for the speakers. It is grounding out somewhere. I had the same problem with my kenwood in my truck. Its grounded most likely to itself if its a fiber glass boat.

CD PLAYER IN boat says ACCS and does not work, i have power and i checked the fuse's all working but the screen reads ACCS and i cannot remember how i fixed it the first time this went wrong,

OK, so I spoke with a Claion reseller and they were very nice and helpful. ACCS mode is accesory mode. This can happen if the brown wire in the back touches ground or the case on the radio. If it is not, tap the brown wire on the yellow(hot) wire and that takes it out of that mode. I tried it and it worked. Good luck! And thanks Clarion for your support on my 3 year old radio!

CDA 9885 No idea why it suddenly stopped working

It sounds like you have a bad ground connection. You need to take the radio out and check all the connections. I bet you have a loose one somewhere. That is what the problem was with my bronco
