I'm gonna assume your speakers are plugged in(wall and computer), turned on, turned up and not muted in windows.

For Windows 95/98/2K/ME/XP:
Right click on My Computer, go to Properties, click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button. Look for your sound device(or and device with a yellow icon), right click it and then select Update Driver...

For Windows Vista:
Right click on My Computer, go to Properties, then click the Device Manager link on the left. Look for your sound device(or and device with a yellow icon), right click it and then select Update Driver...

hmm, right i had a similar problem, if you click on the volume icon on the right hand taskbar and make sure that it is set to the correct sound card, i had made th mistake of setting it to the wrong one, it was set at HDMI when it should have been as realtec again, go to control panel, sounds and audio devices, and then click hardware

have you check weather the sound driver has been installed. If yes the some system units do not have speakers but those that have wont work unless you install the driver.

Sound is not there

1.Please check weather the sound driver is been installed properly on you laptop.

2.Then check weather in sound option the master volume is reduced fully or put in mute.

3.Then check the volume control on laptop is kept to minimum.

These are the possible cause for no sound.

No sound through laptop speakers

You haven't supplied too much information, but I'll try mentioning a few tips:

- Make sure the speaker are not on MUTE by the operation system.

- If there's a +/- button, or volume regulator on the laptop - use it to increase the volume.

- Connect external speakers to the line-out jack in the laptop. Can you hear anything now? If so, the built-in speakers got bad!

- Check weather the audio driver is installed correctly: Go to Device Manager and look under the Sound, Video and Game Controllers. If you see a yellow exclamation mark or any yellow question mark - you need to reinstall the audio device driver. Refer to the laptop's manufacturer homepage for drivers and more info.

- Go into the BIOS and check weather the audio the device isn't mistakenly disabled. If so - enable it.

Good luck,

I find that my weather station rain guage gives a false rain reading occasionally when in fact there is no rain, please help

Depending on the weather station type, you may have a bad tipping cup, or if it uses a saturation sensor, it may be at the end of its useful life or defective. It doesn't sound like calibration since you said it only acts up occasionally. Also check for any bad wiring or terminal connections. Bad connections can cause a host of different problems.

If you know the brand of the weather station, contact the vendor for additional information.
