Try either right clicking on the CD drive icon in My Computer and see if it opens, of not put a straightened paperclip into the small hole on the CD drive face and push into open it. Does the light flash or does it make any noise. I would make sure that it isn't jammed by trying the first two. If all is good, then go into Device Control Panel->System->Device manager->DVD\CD-Rom Drives and see if your drive is showing. If it is then right click and click Uninstall and then restart your system. It should find new hardware and reinstall the drivers for your driver if it is working properly.

It is very possible that there is a CD stuck in the tray. Most commonly you can find a small pinhole on the front of the CD drive. You can stick a paperclip in this hole,, and the drive will manually open. If you find that there isn't a CD stuck in the drive, and the problem persists, you will want to look into buying a new CD drive. They cost roughly around $25 dollars. You will want to buy an IDE 3.5" CD rom drive. It is very easy to install. Just take the side cover off while the computer is off. take the 4 screws out on the side of the CD drive, and pull out the two plugs on the back of the cd drive and pull it out of the front. Reconnect the cables, put the screws back in, close the cover and you will be good as gold. If the PC has Windows 98 or below you may have to install the drivers. Good Luck!

I emachine dvd rom/burner won't open how can i open it? but before it really do not play any dvd and then now it wont open.

If the door on your CD/DVD drive will not open when you push the eject button (on the front of the drive), Click on Start, My Computer, and Right Click on your CD/DVD drive. Then Click on Eject. If the door still refuses to open, you can insert a paper clip into the small hole on the faceplate of the drive and push it in until the door opens. If the door continues to refuse to open in the normal manner, you will have to replace the drive,

Ch08ls10 lg wont recognize dvd+r

Click the Windows "Start" button, and open "My Computer" -- if you don't see an icon for the CD/DVD drive, it's not correctly connected:
* no electrical power
* no data-cable
* jumpers on drive (MAster, SLave, CableSelect) improperly set
* just a "defective" drive

Does the drive-tray open/close when you push the button? If so, you do have electrical power.

Do you hear the drive spinning, or feel it vibrating,
when you insert a disk?

Best guess: shutdown your computer, move the "jumper" (MA, SL, CS) on the "back" of the drive to a different position, and restart.

DVD/CD ROM does not open

There should be a small hole on the front panel of the DVD-ROM. Take a paper clip and insert it into the hole and push to open the tray. If the DVD-ROM tray continues to malfunction, you'll need to replace it. DVD-ROMS run anywhere from $25.00 to $75.00.

Cd/dvd drive

You can see a hole located on the tray of the cd rom drive. Commonly seen beside the button to eject the cd out. Grab a small pin and push the hole and this should eject the tray. Close the tray again by pressing the button. Eject it using the button. If everything still failed, call up Dell to have the CD Rom Drive replaced.
