Bring up the status display showing the wireless networks sensed by your computer. The SSID that you want is the one that your PC is connected to.

I cannot find information I need to connect to my wireless hp printer I need wpa key or wep passphrase

When you installed your wireless router, you should have configured its wireless interface:
* set an SSID -- the "name" of your network
* set an encryption-level -- hint: use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* set a password or pass-phrase for your network

Enter the SSID/password on your HP printer, to connect it to your router.

Change my printers ssid name

The SSID stands for "Service Set Identifier" it is the name of your wireless network name. The SSID is not usually required in configuring a printer.
The SSID is configured in the router's wireless settings.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access including configuring the SSID, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

We have a hp c4580 wireless printer and we are having problems with getting it to work. Can you please advice what to do. Bethany

Basically, you need to configure the HP C4580 printer with the same wireless settings of your network. Thus, you need to get the following information from your wireless router:

SSID or wireless network name
Type of Wireless Security
Wireless Security key/passphrase/password

To set those settings on the printer itself, you need to temporarily connect first your printer to the computer through USB. Then run the HP Printer Setup CD. It'll ask for you to install the required software then it'll ask for you to configure the printer on a wireless network. From then on, you will need to input the wireless settings that you got from your router.

What is a ssid and a wep key. I am dumb.

Hi,
SSID is the wireless networks name you want to access.

WEP is a special hexadecimal key to secure your network means if you want to connect a wireless network you will have to put this key.
It will be provided by the admin

HP printer cannot find access point and I'm not sure what to do.

You must first connect your printer to the pc using usb cable, then run installation wizard that is on the CD that came with the printer.

Wizard will guide you through the setup orcess where you will provider your routers ssid (linksys) to your printer, and your printer will use that ssid to connect to your router.

After the Wizard setup is done, it will tell you to disconnect the usb cable and only then your printer will work on wireless.

Good luck,
Milan

Wireless problem setup/ What is WEP?

It is the security key used for your wireless router.
When you set up any device to connect to the wireless router you will need it.You should be able to go on you computer, open internet explorer, and type 192.168.1.1 to get to your router page to see all the info needed.

How do I install linksys router

Hi there, and welcome to FixYa
Connect the pc with a cable to any of the four LAN connections on the back of the router.
DO SET THE ADMIN password as the first thing you do.
goto -> administration -> management, fill out the router password and reenter it to confirm.
Give your network a name (SSID) so that you can find yours if there is more around you. Network name are called SSID, short for service set identifier
goto -> wireless -> basic wireless settingsWireless Network Mode : set to mixed,
Wireless Network Name (SSID), set a name well known to you, NOT your address :-)
now set the  Wireless Channel :  to any other than channel 6, which is the one everybody use. Too much electrical noise might interfere with your transmitting.
Now, go to Wireless -> Wireless connection, to set the Encryption security settings.
Set security mode to WEP,
Set the Transmit key to your choice, if you know that you wireless card has 4 keys as well, I would use key 4.
Set WEP encryption to: 128 bit 26 hex digits.
Go down to key 4, and find combination of numbers and the letters a, b, c, d, e or f.
(ex. 414243444546474849404a4b4c) = 26 hex digits.
Save settings.
Now, before you leave, WRITE DOWN your SSID, your password and key 4 with your settings, as you need to set your wireless card with the same settings.
Start -> settings -> network and right click your wireless connection and click properties.
At the top, choose Wireless network, find your network, (your SSID) choose properties and set these settings as you wrote down from the router.
Now, remove the cable and logon wireless.

/Teis
Do let me know how you are getting along.

Attempting connection of a hp photosmart 7200 printer

What is the brand of your wireless router? Just make sure the SSID (signal's name) is configured on the wireless setting of your printer. They should have the same SSID configured. If the correct SSID is already configured on the printer's wireless settings, try to change the channel on your wireless router. Use channel 11. You can also try to do a power cycle. Turn off your wireless router and printer for about 1 minute. Power on router first, wait for the lights to stop blinking, then power on your printer.

DO NOT REMEMBER SSID NAME GIVEN TO ROUTER WRT54GS---LOST PRINTED COPY OF SET-UP. HOW CAN I REPRINT OR JUST FIND OUT INFO

You can see the SSID name from one of your wireless computer that is already connected to the wireless network. Just point your name over the wireless little computer icon down at bottom right hand by the time. It will say there "Wireless Network Connection, Connected to "name of the network". That "name of the network" is the wireless signal name like "Linksys" or whatever name you gave to your network when you setup the router. That's the SSID name as well. Wireless Network Name = SSID.
