Question about Sirius HONSC1 Interface for Honda/Acura

6 Answers

Low volume from my Sirius radio

I had a SCC1 (Sirius connect vehicle turner) and a HonSC1 professional installed into my XM ready 2007 Honda Odyssey. The volume is very low-it can not be heard turned up to full volume with the heater fan running. I already put in the code 162534 and it increased the volume very slightly. I tried to the code in again but now the channel just changes. I appreciate any help on this matter. My installer is also stumped.

Particularly in some Toyota/Lexus/Scion vehicles, you may

need to enter the toggle code to raise the level to HIGH so

the satellite radio level matches the FM/CD levels more

closely. Here’s how:

1. Turn stock audio system on

2. Switch to SAT operation

3. Rapidly enter using the stock radio preset buttons

the following code: “162534”

4. The audio level will toggle to the new setting, which

will be immediately audible if the code was both

promptly and correctly entered

5. If no audible change, enter the code again

6. Check the audio level on similar channel from

Sirius vs. FM, then try CD

Note that some variation in audio levels exist between dif -

ferent sources. You may nd that FM is louder when compared

to CD or satellite radio or vice versa and this by as

much as several dB. This is normal in our experience and

should not be a concern. Leave the audio level toggled to

the setting that matches the other sources most closely. If

you hear distortion on the SAT source even when the stock

radio is playing at low volume, you may need to toggle the

audio level to LOW.

The default settings on the interfaces as shipped are as

follows:

TOYSC1: default setting = LOW

HONSC1: default setting = HIGH

The rst time you toggle the TOYSC1, it should go to HIGH.

The rst time you toggle the HONSC1, it should go to LOW.

Conrm the change by listening.

If your vehicle does not come equipped with XM radio, it must meet one of the following requirements:

  1. CD only headunits, CD/Cassette headunits, and 6-CD Changer Headunits must have a "SAT" or "XM" button.
  2. The headunit must have a monitor or a touch screen monitor.

Unfortunately, there is not much more you can do about it. It is a known problem with the hon-SC1. If it is set to HI - thats the loudest it will get, and there is no other option.

For all my customers, I suggest a standalone reciever...

Mainly because of adaptability issues, but also because of the following...

    1. FM Modulation install is quicker and cheaper (parts & labor).

    2. A standalone reciever can be moved car to car (or home) without the re-activation fee of $75.

    3. Less compatibility issues (like the one you are experiencing).

    4. Can be installed in any vehicle directly with an AUX port

It may SEEM more convenient to adapt to a factory installed system, however the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages. I'm sorry your salesperson/Installer did not recommend a standalone unit.

If preset did not fix the low volume problem, then that means that there is a contact.

In that case there is need to verify the system wirings.

The volume is low because of a factory preset on the HON-SC1 piece; this can be resolved by:
1. Turn stock audio system on, switch to SAT operation.
2. Rapidly enter on the stock radio PRESET buttons the following code: “162534′.
3. The audio level will toggle to the new setting, which you will hear immediately if the code is entered correctly and quickly enough.
4. If no audible change, enter the code again.
5. Check the audio level on similar channel from Sirius vs. FM, then try CD.
The HON-SC1 ships with a factory setting of HIGH, but it may have been toggled into LOW by accident.

Take care.

On Sirius radios, some programs require a subscription to the "Best of XM" and on some XM radios, you need a subscription to the "Best of Sirius" to get their programs. Call XM/Sirius and ask them, but I think that you have to pay extra for the "B.O.XM".

I have a Siriusconnect Home Tuner and an XM Ready Receiver. Will they work together? What do I need to make the connection from the 8-pin mini DIN on the Tuner to the XM connector on my Denon AVR-587?

Not gonna work, sorry to say. You need the little two-piece "XM Ready" tuner unit (with antenna) to plug into your XM Ready receiver. Sell the Sirius Connect Home Tuner and buy the XM unit. XM unit still available at some Best Buy stores.

Yes, but it will require a tuner adapter so that your deck will properly recognize XM. However for my deck I noticed that "Sirius" will still be displayed as the satilite provider on the display menu. Confusing but don't cause much concern.

What you need is the SCC1 (Sirius tuner) and the KCA-SR50 (Kenwood adapter). The ESN number can be found on bottom of SCC1 before you install it.
