I need to change from Spanish to English on my new Garmin 260W

That's funny. Guess you need to brush up on your Spanish!
Here's how to fix assuming you have a 260 or 260w:
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} This may be a result of a previous software version on a device or possibly some one changing the settings. If a device does power on with a foreign language that you can not understand it can be corrected by going through the settings to change the text language.
To change the text language:
  1. Touch Wrench icon on the screen with the Magnifying Glass and Map icon
  2. Touch the Gears icon
  3. Touch the down arrow
  4. Touch the second option from the top1
  5. Touch the middle blue box on right
  6. Touch the up arrow until American English appears2
  7. Touch American English
  8. Touch OK
  9. Touch Back
The device should be in selected text language.
Note 1 - In some cases, if there are Custom POIs loaded to the device then it may be the first option at the top.
Note 2 - If American English is not the language needed, please selected the desired language

Garmin powered up in wrong language! German vice English!

Therecan be 2-3 choices under languages. One being the voice that speaks to you, and the other, the text on screen you read. Go back in and make sure that both are set to english.

The icon to change language is three flags, and looks like this:

It should be located within the Preferences (wrench) which can be accessed from the main menu.
