Question about Dell Latitude 100L Notebook

Internal Wireless card get really bad signal

I have a two laptops and latitude 100l and a inspiron 1150. Basically the same laptop. Both of them get really low wireless signals. I can be 10 feet from the router and get a 5 mbps signal. I can plug a netgear wn111 wireless card and get a 54 mbps signal from the same spot in the house. I have changed channels and tuned up my router with all the tricks I have found on the internet. Nothing seems to be working. Does anyone else have this problem. Or better yet does anyone know a fix.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I have checked the connections at the wireless cards and they are secure. Also both laptops have different wireless cards.

The particular wireless card that comes stock in those laptops is horrible. I work for a school district and we have 10 of those laptops in a school library with a wireless access point. They constantly lose connection, don't get an IP address and generally don't work well at all. We have tested everything we can and have narrowed it down to the fact that that particular wireless card is a piece of junk. We are currently outfitting all of those laptops with new PCMCIA Wireless cards. We tested a single laptop using a new card in the slot and disabled the internal wireless. After that was done, the laptop worked like a charm. For a comparison, we have other laptops in that same library that have an Intel wireless card instead of the Dell one. They have always connected fine and with no issue to the same Wireless Access Point that the Dell wireless has problems with.

Check the remote for the TV or the TV menu to see if there is a way to change from one source input to another. You may just not have the TV set to the VGA input. Also you have to make sure the video card on your PC is set to a resolution your TV will support.

It sounds like you have a bad AC adapter . When you plug it in to the outlet in the wall and into your computer , do you see a charge indicator light on the computer? I'm asking you this because even with a bad battery your computer should operate without any problems with the AC adapter plugged in.

Inspiron 6000 has trouble picking up wireless signal

Some wireless cards are better than others at picking up weaker signals.
The problem with any wireless transmissions is that radio signals cannot pass through metallic surfaces.
You should position your wireless router away from metallic surfaces/walls and position your laptop so it can receive the radio signals without it passing through any metallic walls. If possible place the wireless router higher than at desk level.
