Question about Computers & Internet

Aim & webcam problem, help me please.

Ok. So, I was trying to go on webcam with my friend and we have done it before and it worked just fine. We did it last night, actually and it worked fine. Now today, we try to go on and when it opens up and loads, I just see myself on my little screen & where he should be showing up. Then every now and then, his would be a black screen, but I'd see myself. Most of the time, I just saw myself double.

Does anyone know why and how to fix it?

I tried this. The weird thing is, it works just fine at my mom's house, but it wouldn't work at my dad's. And it worked at my friend's house.
It just wouldn't work with AIM at my dad's.

I am assuimg that you are connected to the internet, and that his camera is working fine and he is connected and online.

FIrst thing to try is a reboot. Then see if the camera intializes, and that AIM can tell its working. Try this and let me know what happens.

a. your dad is a computer guy, or knows one, and is blocking that traffic at his router

b. to slow of a connection at dads

B more likely, as A is normally an extrerme route to take

My webcam won't work on msn!

Unistall Windows Live Messenger
Erase the installation folder and this (XP): .\Documents and Settings\All Users\WLinstaller (or something that begins with WL and sound like that)
in Vista is in .\ProgramData\
REBOOT: REALLY IMPORTANT, I DID IT WITHOUT REBOOT AND DIDN'T WORK
After reboot, reinstall.
And everything's done.

Won't work with AIM instant messenger; won't install

AIM is having problems with video. Try Skype or another messenger to communicate with Family and Friends. Here is info to setup Audio and Video. Send on to them also.

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud
