White powder in washer after clean cycle

If you live in an area with hard water, the white powder is probably hard water residue / deposits. Most detergent does not clean hard water deposits anymore because there are new laws that required a change in the ingredients of dishwasher detergent. Here's a product that was created to solve this exact problem. Add about 2 tablespoons to your normal detergent. It's all-natural & made from dehydrated orange peels! They will send a free sample if you ask for one.

Engine Flush.

I get ask this question a lot. Should I do an engine flush? The answer to that is NO! If you have your vehicle serviced at a quick change lube, they will push services like this to you, especially if your a woman. Jiffy Lube is notorious for doing this. Every automotive manufacturer will state in their warranty, if you do this, they will void the warranty simply because it will cause a major engine failure. Over time sludge and deposits build up in an engine, when you flush it, it breaks up these deposits and they settle in the oil pan. Even when you drain the oil and place a new oil filter on, some of these broken up deposits remain in the engine plugging up the oil lube ports. This stops oil from properly lubing vital parts inside the engine causing engine failure. Products like engine flush are known as snake oils in the automotive repair business. The best and safe way to stop sludge build up or remove it, is to use a good quality synthetic oil and quality oil filter. This will end your sludge problem over time. One more thing, avoid quick change lube centers, any of them no matter if it's EZ- Lube, Jiffy Lube, Wal-Mart and on and on. The people working there are not automotive techs, the have not went to collage or have a degree in automotive technology. No one with a degree in automotive technology is going to be working at a quick lube center for minimum wage, they will be working in a good independent service center or dealership making $22 or more per hour. For more information on this, go to youtube and search Jiffy Lube Scam. There are tons of news story video's on all of these centers.

How do I do a Ohms test on water inlet valve for a maytag wc284 dish washer

I have a Maytag WC284 in one of my rentals. It recently would overflow occasionally. This was apparently due to the inlet valve (or fill valve) not shutting off completely. We replaced it with's suggested substitute (154637401). After that it would not fill the bottom of the dishwasher sufficiently. I am betting that the substitute valve is defective or some sludge or mineral deposit has plugged its inlet.

When i add lubegard to my engine oil do i drain some engine oil to make up for the displacement of the lubegard or not. In addition the bottle doesnt really say how much to add my car only holds 4.3 quarts...

Welcome to FixYa!

LUBEGARD is designed for use with or without a machine and will safely remove accumulated amounts of varnish, sludge and by-products of combustion. The removal of these deposits is done at a controlled rate so that large amounts of possible clearance blocking debris is not generated during this service. Lubegard blends that contains special detergents and dispersants and NO harmful solvents that will damage seals & engine rings.
now you have to put that whole bottle lubegard with the engine\ Mobil oil . cause it wont harm your engine,i asked it from a mechanic at Pontiac's service station , i had the same problem .but i was saved:)

any ways do tell me your comments

best Regards

Lower hot water element burns out

Assuming that this is a water heater I will suggest that the unit is filled with sludge(mineral deposits etc) in the bottom of the tank. This will commonly cause element failures. Try flushing the system and installing a new element. Good luck!

Oil pressure stop motor

My 2003 1.8L Passat at 62K indicated Oil Pressure, Stop Engine. I had been low on oil for longer than I realized, though the car didn't indicate to me anything. I added a quart 5-40 synthetic as usual, and about 300 miles mid way on a road trip is when the warning lit up!
I had been to the dealer last year and there was a mention of sludge developing in these cars. They suggested I bring it in to remove sludge but life got busy, and it never happened. Evidently this model Passat is notorious for this oil sludge problem.
My Passat needed a new oil pump $800 later half way between destination and home. Luckily I was in a town with a 30 VW mechanic who was very good. The sludge (carbon deposits) had blocked pump pickup. Oil level was good. The computer didn't show anything, but the oil pressure test discovered PSI went down when RPM's went up. Not good.
This problem is very serious as it has ruined engines. I guess I was lucky in the fact that nothing else was damaged. So you may look into this build up. It sounds terribly familiar.

Oil pump

Hi CR LeJeune-

It sounds like the oil return passages in the cylinder head are partially blocked and trapping oil in the top of the engine (inside the valve cover(s).

I would recommend an oil & filter change, but substitute one quart of Rislone oil treatment for one of the oil quarts. I also recommend Castrol GTX oil; it is the best oil out there as far as forming sludge deposits, which is probably what is blocking your oil return passages.

I would not run the engine for an extended time with the Rislone... no more than 150 miles. This is because the Rislone will break down all the sludge deposits, and ALL KINDS of TRASH / DEPOSITS will be circulating with the oil, stuff that could cause severe engine damage!!!

So if this change gets oil back circulating like it is supposed to, do another oil / filter change, but without the Rislone, and this problem will be solved. BUT if the blockage is so bad that the Rislone does not clear it, you need to remove the valve cover(s) and manually unclog the oil return passages... a job better left for a qualified technician if you are not comfortable tearing into an engine.

CR, I believe this will fix your problem, give it a try and let us know how it goes.... AND PLEASE be so kind as to rate my assistance --- your approval is my ONLY compensation for providing this service.
