If the material seems to disintegrate then it can be due to reactions from detergents or water. If so you need to replace the grill

I bought the Ducane Affinity 3100 from Ace Hardware in 2009. The paint on the inside of the grill lid has started to bubble, peel and fall off. Is this covered by the manufactory warranty. Is it still safe...

According to the Owners Manual for your and the reading of the Warranty, No the paint flaking under the grill hood is not covered under warranty (see link below). As far as safety of using it is concerned ... only if you clean all the flaking paint and any residue, and repaint it with High Heat Grill Paint. This should only be applied after all greasy residue has been removed and only in light coats. Several light coats, in fact. It should be allowed to thoroughly dry between each coat, before applying the next coat. Once the final coat is applied, wait at least five days before using the grill. Be sure no paint gets down of the cooking grates or the burners. You can get the High Heat Grill Paint , form the same Ace Hardware store you bought the grill from. I believe Ace carries Krylon, which is one of the best High Heat Paints.

Interior surface of big green egg is flaking off. what cause and what fix. thanks

hello. Eventually the heat and moisture take a toll. Remove all of the flaking with a wire brush then prime and paint it with the special high temperature grill primer and paint now plentiful at home depot, lowes, and many hardware stores. Enjoy your grilling.

Need advice and owner manual for Kenmore grill

Many Owner's Manual can be found online. Go to the Home page of Manage My Home and hold your mouse over the square labeled HOME in the upper left of the page. A drop-down menu will appear, choose the option Products and manuals and then enter the model information and follow the steps. If the manual is not available there, you might need to order a replacement hardcopy through your Sears Store or online through Sears. To find a parts diagram or list for your model online, go to www.Sears.com and select PARTS or go directly to www3.Sears.com

My weber grill leaks grease from lid when it gets hot

This is common as grease condenses on the inside of the lid, especially on cooler days or when cooking very greasy foods like skin-on chicken. The only solution is to wipe down the inside of the lid after every use, especially along the bottom edges.

Paint inside lid peeling off when I cook

From Weber.com Don’t worry, it’s not paint. The inside surfaces of our grill lids are not painted, they are coated with baked-on porcelain enamel which cannot peel. What you are noticing is a deposit of grease and smoke that collects during normal use. During use, the grease and smoke vapors slowly oxidize into carbon and collect on the inside of your lid. This deposit will eventually peel, and looks very similar to paint. The peeling normally starts in the center of the lid and spreads outward. It may come off in sheets or flakes, and is shiny on one side and dull on the other. These carbon deposits are non-toxic. But you might want to regularly remove the build-up. Fortunately, the peeling is easy to remove. Simply brush off all loose particles with a brass brush before you start grilling. To prevent future build-up, after every grilling session, while the grill lid is warm—not hot—wipe it with paper towels or a mild soap-and-water solution.

On the inside of the lid the paint or enamel coating is pealing off on to the food. Weber rep. said they don't paint the inside of the lid, and is probaly residue from cooking. But I used the word (paint)...

Most of the time what appears to be paint pealing, on the inside of your grill lid, is actually soot from your LP gas and bad combustion. May need someone to provide a thorough clean of your burners and check that your orifice sizes are correct and clean(holes on back of valves).   If you can, convert your grill to NG.. that will almost always solve a sooting issue(it burns much cleaner than LP)!  Hope this gives you some answers?
