SOURCE: DeLonghi Magnifica always asks "Insert Infuser Assembly"

on my machine, the two screws that attach the infuser receptacle to the insides of the machine came loose. You can see those two stainless hex socket screws when you remove the infuser by grabbing its two red tabs and pulling it out. Just use a hex shaft
screwdriver (size 3mm or thereabout) to tighten them.

Did you try tightening the 2 hex screws behind the infuser?

Be gentle though. Mine felt tightend but thenIput just a bit more pessue on them and got an eigth to a quarter more turn out of them. Found this solution on this site

try cleaning any old bean dust ect with vacuum ... refit or replace infuser lot better . if still no good you need someone to check pcb assy ... bsc appliances 07779933829 we cover repair service anywere via post.

Have a delonghi Prima Donna 6700 coffee machine and get this message


Hi there coffee person.
Have you tried disconnecting the machine from the power supply. As well as that check if there are enough coffee beans in the bean in the compartment and enough fresh water in the water tank. Not only this but is the compartment with the coffee "tablets" - full or empty. Fill or empty accordingly. Connect to power again, if the machine does not work the only advice have from here is "to clean the machine" as described in the manual or as you are used to.

I have had my Prima Donna for a month now and noticed that the milk container did not always slide in smoothly. This morning I really had problems with it. The machine keeps asking for the milk container...


Me too. Mine has been increasingly hard to fit. After speaking with DeLonghi service, they suggested lubricating the o-rings on the nozzles on the machine. I asked if cooking oil would be ok, to which they agreed. To I took a cottonstick and dipped it in ordinary cooking oil, and swept it over the inside of the two nozzles on the milk-container, since the o-rings on the machine itself were hard to get to. Now it works smoothly. I was reluctant to try that out before speaking with DeLonghi service, since they are so set on only using original stuff for the machine, and I did not think a machine this expensive would need this type of 'help'. Use at your own risk :-)

I have a DeLonghi Prima Donna coffee machine which is 6 months old. When I plug the milk container nozzle into the machine it is not recognised by the machine. A message on the screen is saying...

DeLonghi "Insert infuser assembly" error



Easy Fix - Delonghi Coffee machines which have built-in coffee grinders often suffer from a problem that produces an error, "Insert infuser assembly" that appears at random times.

The problem is usually caused by distortion of infuser lifting mechanism limit switch mounting (Orange colored plastic)!

The mounting is very close to the water heater so with heat and pressure from the infuser lifting mechanism the mounting gets bent over time. The switch mounting (Orange colored plastic) gets permanently distorted so the striker arm on the lifting assembly only just presses the micro switch button causing the error message "Insert infuser assembly".

To easily fix the problem on ESAM 5500 machines and should work on other similar machines:-


    1.Unplug the machine and remove the rear cover screws and remove.

    2.Slide out the two side covers.

    3.Remove the grinder lever screw in the top cover coffee bean compartment.

    4.Carefully lift the top cover pushing it slightly back so it does not stick under the front cover (you may have to loosen the 4 front cover screws on the side).

    5.The limit switch is clearly visible on the top (see photos).

    6.Wedge some insulated material (wood, plastic etc, I used bamboo) between the heater assembly and the switch mounting so the switch is in a VERTICAL position. The thickness of the packing is around 3-4mm (see photo).

    7.Re-assemble the machine and enjoy your coffee. JTS
