Intex pump flowrate drops

I thought my old pump was having motor problems but now my brand new 1000gph pump does exactly the same as my old one, that is it works fine for about 40min then the flow rate drops drastically to virtually not pumping, any ideas why?I have checked all connections and there seems to be no airleak/intake, but when i stope the pump release air valve and restart it works again for 30 sec.when i clean filter it works for 40 min. going mad help !

i am checking the filter on a regular basis, and after cleaning it runs for 30-40min and then drops, but i have found out in the mean time that it was in deed the filter causing the problem as it needed a deep clean from the pool shop.it seemed that the hosing out was not enough.thanks for your suggstion though..

You may have a dirty filter. Check your filter to be sure. Remove the filter from the pool equipment and see if it runs fine for longer period of time. The filter would be the only restriction in your Intex system for water flow.

SOURCE: Intex 633 lost suction

I have seen a common problem when customers change / clean their filter is that put the DRY clean filter in the skimmer box or filter holder and sometimes it can cause an "air lock"
Just take your garden hose put in the intake outlet of your pool and turn that baby on....If you start seeing air bubbles on the discharge end of the line most likely that was your trouble.
If the problem still persist then at that time look into pump repair / replacement.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: Intex pump 635 is a P.O.S.! How do I hook up a different pump?

I just left the standard intex connection on the pool and I cut the standard connection off of the filter side and I slid the hose over the top of a 1 1/2 pipe and put 2 stainless steel hose clamps over them and it worked fine

New polygroup 2000 gph pump is loud

firstly, don't be so certain that doubling your pumping capacity isn't damaging other parts of your pool system. Excessive flow reduces filter efficiency, can cause hyper chlorination, and cause faster degradation of the plumbing and pool surfaces.

a noisy pump typically indicates poor lubrication on bearings and bushings in the pump assembly, or misalignment of those parts. Things like this happen.

Either replace the pump (and i recommend going back to the original design specs) or rebuild it, using new bushings / bearings, high quality lubrication, and be certain that the drive shaft is perfectly straight, and that the bushings allow it to spin freely.

Skimmer or pump baskets may be clogged. It's also possible the pool return is too high causing excess back pressure on the pump. Try raising the pump and equipment off the ground getting a bigger pump.

Where can I get a new motor for an Intex pump model 637 or 12R

first off water should not be getting to the armature area. be carefull with how you are taking care of your pump.
secondly a 1500 gallon pump is very weak I would advise at least 2500 or even the intex 4000
the most important part of pool maintenance is circulation.

if you have time check into electric motor rebuilding in your area
but sometimes that is more expensive than buying new

also if you have a valid receipt and the pump is less than 90 days old call intex and they will send out a new one within 24 hours
good luck

Is the intex 4000 pump any good.... do you lots filters...

I have the new 4000GPH pump and its awesome! The pump itself needs modifying just a bit. As for your pool, get rid of the plunger valves. They restrict the flow by about 1000GPH or more. There is a plastic grate in the inlet side of the pump. I just took a small file and sharpened the leading and trailing edges to smooth things up. The biggest thing is with the plunger valves. I modified some PVC fittings so I can use 1.5 inch ball valves. When my pump starts up, you see the water moving. I no longer have problems with **** settling to the bottom of my pool. Oh, and it will run an automatic cleaner with ease.
I dont recommend using the 400GPH pump with hoses smaller than 1.5 inches as there will be too much pressure and is likely to cause problems.
