SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Problem

The dishwasher should have a thermal fuse mounted to the control board behind the operator console4.gif. It is a small silver colored device4.gif attached to a white plactic bracket. In some model dishwashers the wrong gage wiring was used causing the wires to heat up and trip the thermal fuse. There was no apparent risk of fire or anything like that, but the thermal fuses didn't tolerate the heat differential too well. A fix for the problem was to purchase a thermal fuse replacement kit (found at most appliance repair stores) that had thicker wires. The part number for the thermal fuse kit is 959376 and the price is $16.85. You can find it at repairclinic.com. Order on line and have the part shipped directly to you. Now...to access the control board perform the following:

1. Turn off the main breaker to the dishwasher. This is important. Even though the dishwasher is not running, the control board still has live voltages present.
2. Open dishwasher door and remove the top screws that hold the console in place. You shouldn't have to remove the lower screws unless you plan on removing the entire door panel.
3. The control panel should pull off from the front enough to where you can access the control board. There is a thermal fuse mounted on the board with two wire leads going to it. The fuse is silver in color and mounted to a plastic bracket which is mounted to the control board.
4. Cut the wires on the old fuse and splice the new fuse kit to it. Leave plenty of wire to accommodate. There will be instructions included with your replacement kit. Ensure you follow the direction thoroughly and tighten the wire lug screws securely.

NOTE: Do not attempt to reuse the existing wires by simply unplugging the old fuse and replacing it with the new one (been there). The fuse will eventually blow again. Follow the instructions provided and you can't go wrong.

If you have any further quesitons, or if you run into trouble during your repairs, let me know. Good luck to you.

PS If you do not wish to order on line, take the part number I provided you to any major appliance repair shop4.gif and they SHOULD have the part available. This is a known problem and a common fail item.

Check the continuity of the thermal fuse. It's clipped onto the electronic control inside the console.

SOURCE: leaking Kenmore Elite at the right front of dishwasher

Sorry to hear of your plight. My advice is to ask for a new machine under the lemon law since they cannot get it fixed. You can also try calling Whirlpool who is the manufacturer but they are likely to tell you to work with Sears. They were out under warranty and it has not remained fixed so the warranty should carry through since you called for service while still in warranty. I feel for the tech because it is frustrating to have a problem that you cannot find a cure for be the tech should also have escalated it to the tech support line for resolution. (I was a Sears tech for 21 years)

Dishwasher not getting enough water

I'm not familiar with your model of dishwasher but there are some things you can check.

Check for buildup on the float and make sure it moves up and down freely. Look for things that can obstruct your pump, like hair. Make sure your outlet hose is not plugged up. Make sure your inlet hose isn't clogged with sand and grit.

Most likely your float isn't working right. Good luck

Kenmore elite dishwasher stops in mid cycle green clean light flashes 8 times pauses and then flashes one more time

Float Switch

The float switch may be hung up and this can cause the dishwasher to be stuck in a cycle. see the diagram

Timer / Control

If your dishwasher gets stuck in a cycle first try shutting off the breaker for at least 5 minutes if this does not correct the problem you will need to replace timer/electronic control.

Float in dishwasher not recognizing water level

Hi. The float sensor is just a fail safe device to prevent the DW from overflowing. I would first check the incoming water pressure and also check the input water valve to make sure that the screen is not clogged. Try running it without the water pre-heat feature also. BTW, it should be connected to the Hot water line.Temp. sensors will cause erratic problems in this case. Hope this helps.

I have a kenmore elite model# 665.16263402 and it just wont work i have tried changing the soliniode but nothing. it acts like it will start but then only run for 3-5secs and shut off

try checking your float switch, the first thing any dishwasher tries to do is pump out whatever water may be in the tub,
if it is shutting off your looking for why
make sure the float switch is not hung up look by the water soloniod to make sure it is sitting on the switch correctly

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher - leaks from Overfill Protection Float

I had the same problem, but mine leaked every time. I have a kenmore ultra wash dishwasher no. 665.15762. I took the bottom rotating sprayer off and found that the plastic piece under the sprayer had a few loose screws and the rubber gasket, under that piece, had blown out at the corner facing the overfill protection float. I took out all the screws and re-mounted the gasket in place and put all the screws back and tightened them. It solved the problem. I hope that this helps others.
