Question about Maytag Performa PAV2200
My electric dryer began running excessively hot last night and even began to smell like smoke. After allowing it to cool overnight I plugged it in this morning and turned the timer on. The drum immediately began to get very hot as well as the outside top of the dryer. Any advise on areas to check?

Sounds like your motor brushes are very worn.(Its a bit like grinding metal when a cars brake pads are worn.)Should only cost 10 or so pounds for new ones, access to the motor will be required.Unplug washer b4 changing.

Bad motor or you are your drum is rubbing on the maching. What does the soke smell like? Like electrical or plastic. I also recommened that you do not use this until either we can get it diagnosed for you or you call a service tech
