SOURCE: Sony Vaio Touchpad Frozen

Sounds like the Touchpad has gone bad. Call sony and find out if it is covered under warrenty. If so you can have them replace it for you. If it is not, a touch pad is very cheap and very eay to install. Touchpads and mouse buttons are known for problems with that model.

SOURCE: Touchpad and buttons won't click on Sony Vaio

Hi,
it could be caused because of hardware failure or software failure, in case of hard ware failure it would be best to call sony tech support but in case of software issue , if you remember the day it was working fine,
do a system restore to the date it was working fine, which will reset your software configuration to the date you know it was working ok, so if it was caused by software issue it will be resolved, but any programs that you installed after the restore date will be lost

to do system restore
reboot your system when you see the sony logo start tapping the F8 key and you will come to a menu here select safe mode and boot and then
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts select the bold date your system was working fine and continue as it guides,

If you think the information i gave you was helpfull please do rate me
Regards
Ltoso

SOURCE: Sony Vaio VGN-NR140E touchpad is

You can try the drivers at: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGN-NR140E

The other thing to try is to see if you have disabled the touchpad by accident. Some touchpads have a small button near them which turns them off, to avoid accidental use, if you have plugged in an external mouse.

You could also see if the touchpad is disabled by right clicking on "Computer" and selecting "Manage" and double clicking on "Device Manager". See if anything is disabled in this list.

I have a sony vaio nw265 and the touch pad is not responding properly? went into dianostics and it said device is working properly

Hi,

Ensure that an external USB mouse is not connected to the notebook and verify the correct AC adapter is being used and connected properly.

Turn off and then restart the computer and, as the computer is restarting, press the F10 key to launch the VAIO Recovery application.
If the touchpad does not work properly while in the VAIO Recovery application, then the issue is hardware based and service will be required to resolve the issue.
If the touchpad works properly, proceed with the rest of this procedure.

Exit the recovery partition and restart the computer in safe mode with networking, perform the below steps in the safe mode with networking:

Reinstall the touchpad drivers from the below link:

Thanks!!!!

Sony vaio touch pad not working.

My Vaio touchpad started behaving strange. I could move the curser, but no response on left or right click or double tap. Also found that in any search field or user name fields, the computer would just type endless 9's. My wireless mouse could operate the left and right click buttons, but not move the curser. A suggestion to get the mousepad operating again was to touch any key on the keyboard. This allowed it to function again. Final solution was to remove the battery, then hold down the start key for about a minute, reinsert the battery and start it up. It seems to have resolved the problem. I have a 3 month only laptop with Windows 7 already installed. Hope this helps.
