Dryer does not go on. Timer works

My dryer just stopped working. I checked the door switch but the light does not come on or off and the bulb works. (checked that too). The timer still works. I read through the trouble shooting and appears it may be the thermal fuse but I have no idea where to find it. I took off the back and I see many wires????? I have a Estate electric dryer

Thermal fuse is located on the output side of the blower housing. To double check if this is the problem you can jumper across the connection to see if the dryer will come on. Thermal fuse controls the output temperature. If this gets too high it shuts down the dryer to protect it. So if you jumper it you will be putting the fuse out of the system. Do not run with it in this mode.Double check the door switch. Do you have two breakers that feed the dryer? If one is tripped (weak) it will cause a cool dry mode.

My dryer turns on but wont run

There are several bimetallic heat sensor switches in a dryer. Check them first, then the continuity of the door switch, then the control unit ( I usually get mine rebuilt), finally the motor as a last resort.

Whirlpool model LER8648LW0 - the dryer will not stop when door is opened and the interior light does not light. I have changed the bulb on the light but it still does not work. I suspect the problems are...

Hello,

I suspect the problem with your dryer is the door switch as opposed to the timer...its the responsibility of the door switch to stop the dryer when the door is opened as well as turning on the light too when the door is opened.

The part number for the door switch is 3406107 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
apdepot.com
repairclinic.com
searspartsdirect.com
apwagner.com
partselect.com

This youtube video will show ya how to replace the door switch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWQhuQXa6d0

Maytag dryer model PYE4558AYW. Stopped running, and no light in drum. Getting power. Timer switch continues to work. Fried Timer?

first off check to see if you don;t have a breaker tripped in your breaker box ! also make sure there is 220v going to the recept.
then with unit unplugged remove the back cover to see if there is a wire burnt on the motor start switch which is common will be a red or a orange wire. if all that checks out then sounds like a timer issue

Maytag dryer stopped working (model LDE9334ACE - electric). Dryer light DOES NOT work when door is open. Checked circuit breakers and that's fine.

Check your timer switch, that would cause you light not to work.
Also check the bulb, it may be burned out.
I hope this helps

Whirpool dryer stopped working

Check the following to combat this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

When i open the door light does not come on

I'm assuming this is a dryer and if the dryer still stops when you open the door then the switch to stop the dryer and light the light is probably working so it sounds like the bulb burn't out.
Locate the bulb and remove it. It's probably only a couple of screws and a bulb that you push in and twist to remove. Inspect the bulb and if it looks bad call around for a replacement and remember to take the old bulb with you to verify the replacement is the same.
Hope this was helpful.
Good Luck!

Your dryer is equipped with a thermal fuse located behind the drum seat on the heating coil.

http://www.applianceaid.com/la-1053.html

There are two white wires connected to the fuse. Pull those off and connect together. Your door light will come on if that is your problem. There might have been a problem that caused the fuse to blow. Check for kinked dryer hoses, dirty lint traps or anything that might have caused it to overheat. You must replace the fuse or you risk catching the dryer on fire.
