Am trying to set up my router - Computers & Internet

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.

You are trying to open the NAT on the router for X-box.
For this you will need to reduce the MTU settings on the router to 1365.
You will also need to trigger some ports on the router.
For this you will need to open the router set up page.

Your wireless network must be secured
You will need to check the wireless settings of the router.
Is there any computer online using the router.
check the IP address on that computer.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.

well, to reset the router press and hold the reset button on the back of the box for 10-15 seconds.

Are you trying to conenct to the wireless network ?

If you are trying to connect to the wireless network then you will first need to check the wireless settings of the router. For this you will needto open the set up page of the router.
Once you get the wireless settings of the router, you will need to connect to the wireless network on your computer.

If you are trying to connect the computer to the router with the cable then you don't need to change anything. you just need to connect the cable and it should work

OR

You are trying to set up the router for the Internet connection. for this you will need to open the set up apge of the router and change the settings of the router according to the Internet service provider.

Press the reset button on the router for at least 30 seconds. release it. Unplug the power to the router . wait for 10 seconds and plug it back in. Wait for 1 minute and try to set up your router.
If you are having trouble setting up your router with the CD, then you can set up your router without CD also. You can do it manually.

First make sure that your computer is online directly through the modem without the router.
If that is working then you can connect the computer and the modem to the router. Open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the settings of the Internet service provider

Install the latest wireless card driver in the computer/laptop.
Try turning if off for 15 secs and power it up, are all the LEDs on?
Check the wireless settings on the wireless card in the computer, does it match the wireless router's settings?
