SOURCE: lubrication and maintenance reciprocal saw DeWalt

Before you attempt any of this I would recommend going to and see what the inside of this tool looks like. It appears that you need to remove part of the front gearcase to get into the lube. The back e.g. brushes is not that big of a deal. If there is a Service Center near you they have a Max repair rate that they will fix anything on this saw at a preset firm price and if it is less that is what they would charge.

De Walt radial arm saw old model 7740. Am trying to restore it to working condition Very difficult to change the height adjustment due to binding when trying to turn the handle on the top.

The manual for the saw is included below, To free the height it may be best to remove the saw carriage from the arm to reduce the weight.

Use WD40 or equivalent to cut the rust and a suitable grease to maintain the freedom. There is a worm screw that is below the cylinder that may need lubricating. The manual shows the assembly. I routinely apply 90 weight gear oil around the large tube where it goes into the housing,

Ryobi reciprocating saw motor rund but blade doesnt

A Ryobi might not have that nut. They are likley a ring gear drive which is different. I'd open it up and look at the gears. Make sure no teeth are missing and that none are worn down. If they're worn they would probably look rounded. If the gears are bad the saw is more than likely not worth repair. Ryobi saws are not very expensive compared to the cost of repair parts.

How do i replace the gears on a makita reciprocating saw

Expensive job. You have to replace the armature and the gear which retails around 110 pound alone you would be better buying a new one unfortunately.

How to change a blade on dw305 dewalt recirocating saw

On the DW305 you need an allen wrench to remove the blade. Some tools have one somewhere on the handle, if not find one to fit in the blade clamp hex-head bolt. Loosen the bolt and the old blade should come out easily. When you put the new blade in make sure the pin inside catches the hole in the blade.

Need to remove and then replace blade clamp on DW305 Type 1. how do you remove the blade clamp? I see two pins

Hello Hollister, on this peticular sawzall they are using a roll pin to hold the blade holder on. If you remove the blade clamp screw, you can move the blade holder back and forth on it. You will need to get a very small punch and drive it all the way out. Look at the picture below. You will need to remove (38) and (52). It will make it much easier.

I hope this helps. If you run into trouble, I'll walk you through it, just post back.

The blade on my Delta 36-540 table saw is jammed in the 'down' position. The turn wheel will not move it. Thanks Walt

Is there a 'wheel lock' on the shaft? You may have to dismantle the saw arbor mechanism to free the worm gear drive. If the saw has been unused for a long time and exposed to excess moisture, the worm drive could have rusted tight. Good luck!

Reciprocating saw stops reciprocating

your missing a tooth on a large round gear in the gearbox.

when the gear on the engine rotates into the position where the little engine gear spins because there is no tooth to come into contact with the engine runs but the gearbox doesnt spin, hence no reciprocation, but engine runs.

if you bump the blade it will start going again, but when you cut it will stop offasionally in mid cut. you can repair this but stop using it the engine gear will be destroyed otherwise

I have a dewalt dw303 that you can use for parts, I need a new trigger or something the motor is dead and I found a new saw. go to, rochester ny tools section and look for dewalt dw303 that is my listing. for ten bucks ill sell you all the gears you need. i think it is close to the same model, i am sure it is the same gearbox.

try opening your gearbox, im positive that is what is wrong.
