Question about Kenmore 43142 Front Load Washer

Clothes smell like gas

I've had a Kenmore HE2 (110.97562601) for 2 years and now, when I dry a load, the inside of the dryer and the clothes smell like gas (bad!). I've checked all the gas line connections, checked the vent line connection, and made sure the lint screen was clean.

Just bought a used Kenmore gas dryer, model # 110.97562601. When we used it, it heated up and began drying the clothes but a smell of natural gas was coming from the dryer. I've checked all of the gas connections on the outside of the dryer and they're fine. The smell only happens when the dryer is running. The lint screen is clean too. All the posts I've seen answering this type of problem, don't actually answer the problem...they only warn about the dangers of gas. Yes, yes, we know about gas.....how do we FIX the dryer??? I have shut off the gas valve but would like to do some laundry now!

STOP USING THE DRYER AND CALL A QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSON TO TEST ALL GAS LINE CONNECTIONS WITHIN THE UNIT!

A gas leak can cause a fire in your home. Although, we have always used a gas dryer, and the clothes do have a fresher smell to them than an electric dryer. Any gas which may be in the area would be consumed when the gas flame was burning as normally the pilot remains lit throughout the drying cycle.

Washed clothes with gasoline on them. Put into dryer now washer and dryer smell like gasoline. How do I get it out?

To remove gas (petrol) smell from clothing, soak overnight in baby oil (use like you would downy), then wash in baking soda, then wash with normal detergent. It will rid "gas smell" from an entire basket of clothes. Air Dry ONLY
From ehow website:
Step1
Buy a bottle of baby oil. Since gas is an oil based product it is going to take an oil based product to clean the gas out of your clothing. Baby oil is a great product to use as it shouldn't, in most cases, cause further damage to your clothing.
Step2
Soak your clothes with a bit of laundry detergent, water, and a generous portion of baby oil. Also dab some right on the stain before soaking.
Step3
Swash your clothes in the water for a while and let them sit for about five minutes. Transfer the clothes into your washer, once again remembering not to mix them with any other clothing, and let the cycle finish.
Step4
Wash the clothes. If you have a top load washer, let it partially fill up about 1/4 of the way with water. Put some of the baby oil in the wash with the clothes and swash it around a bit. Once the washer cycle begins, add the detergent and let the cycle finish. Make sure that your gas coated clothes are the only clothes you put in the wash.
Step5
Dry your clothing. Make sure you only AIR DRY on a clothes line these clothes. It could take more than one wash to get all the oil out of your clothing. If you use the dryer after the first, or even the second time, you could risk starting a fire in your dryer.
Step6
Check and see if any smell remains in your clothing. If the smell of gas remains on the clothing repeat the wash with baby oil again until the smell is gone.

When the dryer is running it smells like charcol ligher fluid

Sometime recently there has been a petroleum product used in the house. Possibly an oil based paint, stain, varnish, adhesive or some form of cleaning product.

Anyone of these products or many others like them, contain a distillate of liquid. Check around the house.

Until that oil based product dries or cures, the odor and vapors will remain and so will the dryer smell.

At the end of the drying cycle, use the air fluff cycle to purge out the smell. Besure to return the selector on the dryer back to it's prior postition.

Clothes smell burndt after drying in a Kenmore gas dryer

Rule number one NEVER EVER use the top of your dryer to stack piles of clothes while in use. That is the main reason why dryers over-heat. Also clean out the exhaust tube to the exterior.

My clothes smell burnt

If you have done any recent painting or drywall work, oftentimes the dryer will breathe these fumes and it will affect the smell of your clothes. (Just had the same problem) Maybe let the area air out and see if that corrects your problem
