Question about LG LHT734 System

Audio function "Bypass" - problem

When watching a film on DVD the sound of the actors talking is very, very quiet, yet I can hear all the other sounds on the DVD/film for example music, traffic, birds etc, it just seems to be when the main actors are speaking.
I have tried about 6 different DVD's and they are all the same, yet with all of them the trailers part of the DVD's were absolutely fine.
I've tried changing the sound mode when the film is playing but it seems to be stuck in the "Bypass" mode and won't let me change to any other mode, ie. "Music", "Matrix" etc...............please advise?

Try to increse the volume centre channel level so that u could hear better vocals. or do one thing if u r connected with optical cable only. just connect single RCA cable from dvd players centre channel output to the TV input (Left/mono) so that u can only hear the center channel volume thru TV and all other from speakers even the LG is working..

Check the connections to the centre speaker which is where the actors voices come from.

When i watch dvds, the background noise is loud

Go to your set up menu, navigate to speaker set up and check your sound levels to front, center, and rear channels. Adjust as needed to fit the room. My Sony has a test tone option which sends a signal (at levels selected) to each speaker to check sound level and if speaker is connected and in right place.

I can hear the background music, but not what actors are saying

You need to adjust the equalizer on your media player. You can use any pre-defined equalizer settings.

When watching a DVD, the surround sound plays all background music but the actors voices are not heard - can hear music and voices in 2 speaker only - TV programs play in 2, 3, and 5 speaker mode.

If there is nothing at all from the center channel while watching a DVD, first try resetting the system (unplug the power cord from the sub, and the DC power cord from the media center for 30+ seconds) If a reset doesn't help this, run the "adaptIQ" setup disc again. Honestly, this is a very odd problem for that system to have. (especially since we know the center speaker works for other sources) I hope this helps.

The speach during a movie sounds muffled

Hello,
Please download Instruction Manual of DAV-DZ260 from Sony Support and go to page 25 and select appropriate sound option.
The disc in player doesn't match with current sound selection thats why you hear muffled sound.
Thank you.

No dialog sound when watching DVD's

The problem is that your center channel is not functioning correctly.  Dialogue is typically routed to the center channel only in 5.1, so if you don't have a working center channel all you will get is sound FX and background sound.
Go through all your settings, verify that they are correct.  Verify that your center channel is working properly, and wired to the correct output.
Test the center channel speaker and I feel confident you will find something amiss.

We are delighted to hear from you as our Valued Customer. We regret the trouble you have experienced with this product. Check the CENTER SPEAKER for operation. This single speaker carries the vocals for DVD discs, but is not uesd for TV and CD AUDIO. Check the wiring on this speaker to make sure that the contact points on the DVD player are touching the wire, and not the rubber insulation on the wire. If you have other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-243-0000 at your convenience.
