SOURCE: problem connecting quite new macbook

You may find that as Mac uses a different standard for VGA output, the sync will be on a different pin not recognized by the TV.
You may need to purchase a Mac to IBM adapter from a computer store.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: No audio in a hdmi connection between a macbook

There is no audio because HDMI connection between Macbook and TV does not support sound. The HDMI you used does not have audio. In order words, you are not using the right/correct HDMI cord.

You need to connect with a single cable that carries both audio and video like the Kanex iAdaptĀ® HDMI V2 - Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter with Audio Support, or the Dr. Bott 9180-MDHK - Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter II, both of which are linked below.

So endeavor to get any of the above cord and problem should be solved.

I hope the above makes sense to you.

Good luck.

My Toshiba 250gb external hard drive model hddr250e03x is not recognized by my macbook pro but the light turns on. It works on my friend's macbook pro but not mine

I'm assuming you mean it doesn't appear in Finder. Open up disk utility and it should appear there if you say the MacBook is providing power to the hard drive light. You may have to reformat or reset your Mac if you want it in finder

Toshiba 22LV505 TV-DVD:

Check the DC filter caps in the power supply first. Check the 24vdc (or 18vdc for this 22" model) to see if it goes away when the screen goes black.
There are main AC fuse, backlight inverter fuses, T-CON fuses.
