this could be a very complex problem if you hooked your printer up to your pc prior to running the driver instalation disk. most printers requie you hook them up when qued by the install. the best advice i can give would be to uninstall the printer remove the printer connewction from the usb and insure it is removed from the device manager located in the properties section of you computer.
1.Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound. 2.In the Sound window right-click your Speakers and select Configure Speakers. 3.Follow the on-screen setup, and Test the available configurations. 4.Indentify whether or not one configuration appears to have less of an “echo” than others. 5.If the issue is resolved by modifying the configuration then you do not need to do anything further
I don't know off hand of any way to get files to save directly as a pdf if they aren't already in that format on download but there is a free utility called PDF Redirect you can install that will allow you to save files as a pdf. It basically installs and shows up as though it was a printer attached to your system. You print the file from it's original software format (Word, Excel, images etc) and select the PDF Redirect "printer". A dialog box will show up so you can name it and choose a location to save. the link to it is http://pdf-redirect.en.softonic.com/

You may set Internet Explorer as your default browser by starting it and choosing 'internet options' from the 'extra' menu. At the 'programs' tab there should be a possibility to set Internet Explorer as standard browser.
Because your printer is not either wireless or network capable, the only way to get the results you need is to purchase a usb print server, hook it to your router, set it up through it's management console, and if your router is wireless, you can hook up to your router and print to your printer with your desktop turned on or off.
