its sata haed drive problem u also can install it with floppy if u have it external or internal possible ways to do it:

    1) I open my motherboard cd...

    2) Find makedisk.exe on it.

    3) Insert a floppy disk and run makedisk.exe.

    4) Make sure it worked by verifying that there are files on the floppy.

    5) Done - my sata floppy is done.

It will be better if you just disconnect and reconnect the hard drive from your computer and then after that boot from CD with your XP or Vista installation CD and then you can now reformat and reinstall the operating system for it....

Have you tried to boot it to a new version of windows? i would try that first and it will bypass anything thats keeping it from working. i have windows xp and windows vista and they are easy to install.if you want it done let me know and you can send it to me and ill upgrade the windows for you at no charge so that you can get some use out of the computer. im pretty good at upgrading laptops

you may need to replace the hard drive on it...i have about 20 of them ranging from 10 gig to 80 gig and all are good. i cant think of any other way other than turning the bios battery over and then turning it back over again to reboot to a blank system. flipping the bios battery should take away any passwords and anything else confusing the system

Try safe-mode, F8 after POST. if that doesn't work, get the system/install disk and let it auto-detect installed OS then you choose to repair or install on a new folder.

to remove the hdd password do the follwing
1) Restart your computer. Note that during computer restart, the screen goes blank for 3 to 5 seconds. Text then appears and the operating system boots up.
2) As soon as the first text lines appear on the screen, press the "Del" key on your keyboard to enter the BIOS setup
3) Navigate to "Security" in the BIOS menu using the arrow keys on your keyboard
4) Navigate to the option "Hard Disk User Password" and press "Enter

The BIOS can't access the hdd because the controller of it has been put behind a password. If you haven't done that then he hdd controller has did it on its own - your hdd is indeed dead. Replace it and reinstall.

Hdd password frozen on laptop These both worked. Thanks much to Eddie333 and howarthjd2. What I ended up doing was this: Note- I was not replacing the HDD, merely trying to reinstall WindowsXP, which...

if you download the sata drivers from the toshiba website for your specific laptop and then extract them and get nlite ( www.nliteos.com and slipstream the drivers into the xp disc you can then re install xp and it should allow you to boot.

As for the hard drive frozen password that should be in the bios on the hard drive that you set it for so it should remember it

if not you may have to contact toshiba and they should have a back door password that they can produce once you give them the asset tag ( serial number of the laptop ) and once you enter that it should resolve the hard drive frozen issue.

Had a hard drive frozen at a school once and had to call dell ( as it was a dell laptop obviously ) and gave them the serial number and they created a back door password for me - jobs a good one :D

User password lockout

Hard disk password is set from the BIOS. It is usually set in conjunction with the Power On Password. This password is stored on the EEPROM chip and is very difficult to crack - no backdoor passwords. It is used to prevent unauthorized access to the laptop and the data on the hard disk. Removing the hard disk and inserting it into another computer will not allow access to data without the HDD password.

Cant boot

If you are sure no one has tampered with it and entered a HDD password and it is not prompting for a password then it is most likely a HDD failure. It is possible the BIOS will still recognize the HDD. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDD if you can access it there should be screws on the bottom marked with a cylinder symbol.

Cant boot

In your bios you should be able to change your settings for the hdd. Make sure everything in bios matches your hdd & then save changes & reboot. Hopefully that will allow you to enter windows.

I have a Toshiba A105 Laptop, Screen goes blank after windows....

Here are some easy things that can sometimes resolve this problem:
1) Sometimes there can be a static buildup on the mother board. Power off, remove the battery, remove the power cord and hold the power button in the on position for at least 30 seconds.
2) If that didn't work- Power down, remove the battery, remove the Hard Drive and memory modules and reinsert them. Try to power back up
If these things don't work, get back to me for some more ideas.
