I have a RVA tablet my wifi signal is always dropping or disconnecting on its own. Right now the wifi signal is remaining grey and not turning blue. I'm very close to my wireless router. What is wrong with...

you have not mentioned encryption - does the wireless router use WPA or Wep encryption if it does you have to connect the tablet to the actual Wi-Fi if the router broadcasts its id it then your tablet will ask for a password which is the encryption code. This may be the cause of your problem.

Computer says,"connected to network signal strength excellent", but I cannot connect to internet

Can you connect to the Internet using the LAN cable?
Have you configured the wireless card in your laptop with the router's wireless settings?

Network Key (WEP, WPA, WPA2 Encryption key)To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Where do you find the Encryption key for LAN Adaptor DY-WL10 Thanks

The encryption key it is probably asking for is the key to the wireless signal you are trying to connect to. This key should have been given to you when the wireless signal was set up, if the wireless signal is yours. If not it is your neighbors signal in which you would have to kindly ask them if you can use it as well.

Are trying to enter the WEP key and it is not allowing any more the 5 characters (please input 64 bit WEP encryption and Five ASCII Characters))

It is recommended to enable encryption on your wireless router before your wireless network adapters. Please establish wireless connectivity before enabling encryption.

Note: Your network will slow down and wireless signal may degrade when enabling encryption due to the added overhead.

Step 1 Log into the web configuration of the router by opening up a web browser and typing in the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1).

Click here if you cannot access the web-based configuration.

Step 2 Enter your username (admin) and your password (blank by default). Click OK . Click the Home tab and click the Wireless button on the left hand side of the screen.

Step 3 Select Enable next to the WEP radio buttons. For WEP encryption select 64, 128, or 256-bit encryption. For the Key type select HEX. If you have an option for Authentication type, select Shared Key.

Step 4 Select Key 1. Enter a Hex encryption key that you make up. The length of the encryption key will depend on what you selected under WEP Encryption.

  • 64-bit encryption 10 characters
  • 128-bit encryption 26 characters
  • 256-bit encryption 58 characters (available on DI-614+ only)

The encryption key is HEX, meaning 0-9 and A-F are valid characters. For example, A4583DFF1A (64-bit HEX key).

Step 5 Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings.

    What is wpa

WPA is a encryption type for wireless internet.

Signals can be sent over the air but the problem is anyone can read them. What WPA does is it takes a key and encrypts all the information to that key when the signal gets to the other end of the wireless spectrum it is scrambled .

Cannot get the roku box to work the signal comes up with a lock on it did work exallent until christmas how do i get the signal un locked

When you have the wireless signal with a lock it indicates that your wireless network is secured.
Your wireless network has a security key enabled
    Access the router page
Go to the wireless settings or WAN settings
Check what is the security mode(WEP/WPA)
If WEP check which Key is selected(key1or2or3or4)
If you are not able to find the key create a new one
If you change the key here ensure that it is updated on the wireless computers as well

Weak signal thorugh my sbg 900 wireless surfboard gateway

On the Wireless > SECURITY — basic Page check whether the WPA Encryption type is TKIP.

If all of your wireless clients support AES, change the WPA Encryption to AES. This may make a difference for you.

    My neighor stealing my signal

You need to encrypt your wireless signal. Here are some instructions for getting in to your router's control panel.

Once you manage to log in, find the firewall region or wireless security region. Make sure to encrypt your wireless connection with the WPA-PSK authentication method using the TKIP encryption. Make sure to write down your pass-phrase, as you will need it to connect to your wireless connection.
