SOURCE: The fuse in my Kustom Sienna guitar amplifier blows instantly on switch on. Any suggestions?

Hey, guys, do you know that sometimes we have to pay for our mistakes? In my case, it was the decision to show this site http://musiety.com/ to my friend, Josh, who's recently started to be interested in music. Now he's constantly hinting me that I should buy him an electric guitar as a present for his birthday. Damn, that toy is too expensive for a college student. How should I politely refuse him? So, you can try to find out about your issue there too

I was just given a Kustom Sienna 65 Amp and it powers up but no sound coming out of speaker. I plugged a line from the ext speaker 1/4" out into a practice amp and got sound through the practice amp.

You may have a blown voice coil in the speaker. Can you see the back of the speaker? Then, First Check the connections to the speaker and make sure they are well connected. If they are, then the speaker is probably at fault. If you are handy, then you can get a replacement speaker, 12 inch?, and swap it out.

I have a Kustom KPM8420 PA mixer and the monitor channel comes through both the monitor and main speakers and vice versa. The two channels are not separate. How do I fix that?

On the back panel there is a section labelled Patch Bay
There are 2 small switches which assign each Power Amp to either Monitor or Main Output.
It would seem you have them both set the same at present. Set one to Monitor and one to Main, and use the corresponding Power Amp outputs direct to speakers.

Note you can send signal to external amps or powered speakers from the preamp outputs. This is really handy.
Download and print the manual from https://www.manualslib.com/manual/90516/Kustom-Kpm-8420t.html
and keep it with the mixer.

( Of course don't send speaker outputs to other amps or powered speakers )

Amp keeps blowing fuses

Blowing fuses, was caused by many thing.
Short of rectifier, resistor, elco, tube heater, tube pin, and also trafo itself (primary or secondary winding). It must check step by step.
CAUTION :
THIS IS HIGH VOLTAGE AREA.
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK THAT CAN KILL.
DON'T DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT TECHNICIAN OR NOT FAMILIAR WITH VACUM TUBE CIRCUIT. THE CIRCUIT MAY STILL CONTAINS ELECTRIC SHOCK EVEN IF IF THE AMP IS NOT POWER PLUGGED.

The simple steps (see picture) are:
  1. Disconnect all connection from secondary of power trafo (PLV,PDCH,PACH and PHV).
Power ON the amp. If fuse is not blowing, trafo is good.
  2. Power OFF the amp. Unplug the cord.
Connect PLV1-PLV2-PLV3 (this are Bias voltage,+/-15VDC and Backlight PCB voltage) to power trafo.Power ON the amp. If fuse is not blowing,PLV circuit is good.If fuse blowing, there are parts is damage (dioda,elco,7815/7915,resistor) in this PLV circuit.
  3. If step 2 is good,go to next step.
Power OFF the amp. Unplug the cord.
With PLV circuit stay connected, connect PDCH 1-2 and PACH 1-2 to power trafo. Power ON the amp.
If fuse is not blowing,PDCH and PACH circuit is good and all tubes heater/filaments are lights after a few seconds.
If fuse blowing, there are parts is damage (dioda, elco, tube heater pins) in this PDCH/PACH circuit.
  4. If step 3 is good,go to next step.
Power OFF the amp. Unplug the cord.
With PLV,PDCH,PACH circuit stay connected, connect PHV 1-2 to power trafo.
Power ON the amp. CAUTION: HIGH VOLTAGE AREA is ON.
If fuse is not blowing,PHV circuit is good.
If fuse blowing, there are parts is damage (dioda, elco, tube pins) in this PHV circuit.

Notes:
  • Steps had to be done sequentially from 1 to 4, not upside down.
  • If tube/heater pin is short,it can't be repair. The tube must be replacing.
  • PDCH circuit is voltage for V1-2-3-4 heater/filaments.
  • PACH circuit is voltage for V5-6-7 heater/filaments.
  • Always replace fuse with same type.

Hello. Where is the fuse located to be replaced in my Kustom KPM4060 Amp. Thanks Shawn.

I have the same problem with my KPM 4080 amp. I have no clue where the fuse goes. I'm sure mine also needs a fuse replaced.

I have an Ibanez TSA15H amp that keeps blowing the F6 fuse. the fuse is a 500mA, but Ibanez told me to change it to a 100mA fuse and that would solve the problem. i did this, and it still blows. also...

This appears to be a common problem with this amp. Putting a smaller fuse will only cause it to blow easier...not sure what Ibanez techs were thinking. Mine blows with 500mA fuse...usually because failing to let it warm up the 30 seconds with standby switch off. I have used .75A-250V fuse and it eliminates the problem. Note: it also defeats the purpose of the fuse and leaves the circuit unprotected....voids warranty/fire risk/ shock risk/world will end, etc. I don't recommend using higher rated fuses but it appears that portion of the circuit draws more than the 1/2 amp fuse can handle.

I have a KPM 4080 mixer that has a blown 1A fuse. What would be the most common cause.

The most common cause of a fuse blowing is excess current... now what has/could cause that is impossible for us to diagnose remotely. Failure in the power amp would be prime suspect with power supply components a close second. Double check that fuse rating... if on 120 volts it sounds low... it would be right for 220 operation.

Kustom Profile One Blowing Fuses

likely a failure in the power supply or in the final power amp stage. Keep putting fuses in to "cook" out more parts to increase the repair expense... DON'T !!! Take for repair as a fuse isn't going to fix the problem.
