If you are sure no one has tampered with it and entered a HDD password and it is not prompting for a password then it is most likely a HDD failure. It is possible the BIOS will still recognize the HDD. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDD if you can access it there should be screws on the bottom marked with a cylinder symbol.

Unlock hdd/ssd password on toshiba satellite

Step 1Turn on your laptop. Press the "F2" key when the first loading screen appears. This will load the BIOS. You'll only have a second or two to press this key before Windows begins to boot. If you're not fast enough and the Windows screen comes up, simply restart and try again.
Step 2Use the right-arrow key to highlight the "Security" tab. This is the third tab from the right.
Step 3Press the down-arrow to enter the Security Settings menu. Scroll down to "User Password," listed beneath the "HDD/SSD Password Select." This will open a pop-up window with three text fields.
Step 4Type your current password into the "Current Password" field. Press "Enter." Type your new password into the "New Password" field and press "Enter." Type the same password again into the "Confirm New Password" field and press "Enter." The "Password" window will close.
Step 5Press the "F10" key to save your new settings and exit the BIOS. Your laptop will now boot normally.
TipHDD password can be changed as many times as necessary. However, once you enable password protection, you can never delete it.

How do I lock my Toshiba Satellite L500 laptop

You can put a Power On Password of your Toshiba, this will prevent unauthorized access to youe laptop. If you forget this password then you will have problems unlocking your Toshiba.
The Power on Password is configured in the BIOS under sercuity settings.
You can also put a password on the hard drive and if your Toshiba is stolen and they remove the hard drive out of your Toshiba into another laptop they cannot get access to the data on your hard drive.
NOTE if you forget the hard disk password you will not be able to access your hard disk.

Hdd primary pasword is lost cannot open hard disk drive showing error codes 06231 and so on cannot boot the computer cause the disk drive is asking for primary hdd pasword and is no taking the password...

Most modern laptop HDD or BIOS passwords are not resettable and don't come with default passwords to unlock them if the password is forgotten.

You will need to contact Acer and find out what kind of warranty coverage your machine has. It's likely that you will have to pay for the services they provide or pay for a new hard drive yourself and re-install Windows.

In your bios you should be able to change your settings for the hdd. Make sure everything in bios matches your hdd & then save changes & reboot. Hopefully that will allow you to enter windows.

HITACHI HARD DRIVE LOCKED

Hello Oldnovii
This Toshiba notebook has both a BIOS and hard drive lock on it. The client has already paid $ 25 to the Toshiba depot to have the BIOS lock removed now they want $ 100 to remove the hard drive lock. The hard drive lock cannot be removed by trying to bypass it using a boot cd or disabling the hard drive boot option in the BIOS. Any help will be appreciated since my client has now had the notebook for 2 weeks and cannot use it. Thanks

Hdd password

What is HDD Password? All hard disk drives have the possibility to set a hardware password, thus making the drive completely inaccessible unless a correct password is provided during the BIOS POST test. When you set a password on your notebook, the drive becomes locked as well. XBox gaming consoles and some desktop computers can also lock hard disk drives. This is usually called "HDD password" or "ATA password".

If you forget the original HDD password, there is no way of restoring it by generic system tools. HDD Unlock Wizard incorporates proprietary unlocking algorithms which allow to remove an unknown HDD password and make hard drive usable again.

I have a software enable to reset the password security on your harddriver but you need to pay my professional charge. If sound interested please email [email protected].

Please rate me solved if you like my solution.

Best regards,

Philip
