Your inlet valve is defective, can be easily changed. Approach your dealer with your model number he will direct you to the spares shop, or tell you where you can get it. Or google 'roper washing machine spares'
turn it on and just makes a hummins noise??? not filling with water??? at very least the machine if powered correcly will fill with water, the humming if happening is hte washer trying to fill check your incoming water supply. try alo changing water temp select from cold/warm/hot.
Sometimes the small tube leading to the level sensor becomes clogged with soap scum and such. Find the sensor and disconnect the tube and clean it out. Next I would check the fill solenoid to make sure that it is not becoming lazy.
This could mean the fill level is not working properly and there is an overfill situation.
Generally[I don't know 'Roper'] the fill level is controlled by a 'bottle' like device at the fixed to the outside of the drum at the bottom with, with a fine tube leading to a disk like thing near the top of the machine- with wire coming from it to the controller.
The 'disk' thing is the pressure sensor. and the bottle thing is supposed to fill with water and the air pressure in the tube actuates the switch in the 'disk'
Overtime the 'bottle' will get clogged with crud and need cleaning out.
This will mean taking it off and giving it a good cleaning.
Hope this helps.
