Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators
I have just purchased an RV, the previous owners had a brand new Electrolux Fridgidare compact fridge installed in August 08, it has been working great until about 9 p.m. on friday 1/23/09, it developed a noise that sounded like a fan was hitting something, i went around the back of my RV, took off the back plate and found that the sound was coming from a little white box located next to the compressor at the bottom of the unit. What can this be, how can it be stopped from making the noice and should I contact the company that installed it? Thanks
That little white box is a relay called a PTC relay. Depending on the warranty if you have it or the previous owner and didn't transfer then it needs to be replaced.
The part is about 25 dollars and pretty straight forward to replace. Just remove and take to appliance parts house they should be able to find one for that unit. If you go to a RV dealer I am afraid they will charge you some high dollar amount blaming it on the type of fridge you are dealing with. But this is just a apartment size type so nothing unique about it. let me know how it goes ken

Thanks for your post, William!
I understand that you are experiencing a metal shaking noise once your thermostat switches off inside of your Electrolux refrigerator. Since there are so many metal pieces inside of your refrigerator it is hard to provide a proper diagnosis. This would require proper disassembly of your refrigerator to pinpoint what could be causing this noise. I would recommend contacting a professional technician for proper assistance. If you need assistance I would advise you to view your manufacturers website to locate a technician. Hope this helps. -Matt

Hey Jantoye4, thank you for your inquiry!
Based off what you have described your Electrolux freezer is making a ticking noise. This could be from your compressor or condenser. Additionally, you may hear this noise due to your defrost cycle. If you continue to experience the noise more or have another problem I would recommend contacting a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. Best of luck! -Matt
