Turn off the PS3, turn on manually with your finger on the power (touch) button hold until you hear the first beep (powering on) and then hear a second. This should change the output of the video to what you are currently using. If nothing, then check your input channel. Hook something else in the same spot make sure the inputs work and hook up the ps3 and repeat the last steps if needed.

Tips for a great answer:
Feb 03, 2011 | Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
If it is
a new connection you are setting up then check the Display settings for your
PS3. You can check it by--
setting, display setting and choose the cable type and then try to do the test.
See this link for details--
issue is not resolved then try using Component cables for the connection
and check whether the PS3 works. If this works then connect the HDMI cable
after the component cable is connected & then the PS3 will locate the
cable. It'll then ask you whether you want to use the HDMI cable connection,
select yes from there. And, if this doesn't resolve the issue then try
connecting it with another TV or else this is a hardware issue with the PS3,
not the TV. If it is less than 90 days old then you get it replaced and get a
new one. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.
