Internal hard drives should only be opened in a clean room. If I understand you correctly this drive is bound to fail. Suggestion: Start moving files onto other space.

I recently upgraded my ram (2 days back) to 1gb on my intel d915gav motherboard, first it seemed to work fine, but now the Pc won't boot, with it connected?

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be

even something as small as a faulty power lead or fan lead can cause you problems

computers need all of the data and power to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

make sure ram modules and cmos batteries have dust free secure seatings and cmos battery has charge some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all power an data leads make sure they have dust free secure connections

cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

check you CPU make sure its securely seated and has thermal grease

hope this helps

Turned off raid, unable to access 2nd 160 gig hard

Right click on Computer in the Start menu. You should see manage.
click on manage and you will see some selections the left one called disk management. click that and you should see all your drives. If you disable the Raid you may have to initialize the disk for windows to use it again. right click on the drive and initialize or if it shows up you may have to create a partition and then format.

IS THERE ANY replacements for YH278 HITACHI 120 GB SATA HARD DRIVE HTS541612J9SA00, THAT IS CAN I REPLACE WITH 250GB.

Generally speaking, you can replace any SATA hard drive with any other SATA hard drive. Notebook SATA drives are all the same size, basically, (2.5 inch), and desktop drives are generally the same size (3.5 inch), Desktop and notebook SATA drives will connect to the same power and interface cables, though desktop drives require more power. Just make sure that you pick a 2.5" drive for your notebook, or 3.5" drive for your desktop, and the drive will attach with no problems.

As for the size of the drive, to my knowledge, any system with SATA should support any size SATA drive (I put a 500 gig drive in my notebook, where the stock drive was 160 gig).

F7 hard drive problem the PC has two 360 gig hard drives. Which one is the primary? Will a WD serial # WCAV 5463220018 3.5 inch SATA hard drive 1000 Gbyte be compatible with my PC?

If your PC has SATA connections yes you can use SATA, but not a SATA 2.5 which only fits a laptop! When you use 2 drives one must be set by jumpers on rear of drive to master..... the slave drive (2nd hard drive) must also be set to slave by same jumpers.

Sounds like the 160gb drive has some issues ...bad clusters etc ... if it keeps happening you can be sure the drive will fail soon.

I would look to replace the drive as soon as possible. If it's less than a yar old you should be able to get it replaced under warranty.

Service pack3 crashed puter - after reinstall machine thinks extra hard drive is a disk drive.

You can get to the BIOS by hitting DEL or F2 at start up.

However, that does not have anything to do with a drive letter.

Drive letter designation is set in
START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL>ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS>COMPUTER MANAGEMENT>DISK MANAGEMENT.

Hope this helps.
