Frigidaire GLEQ642A electric dryer. Need to get to the inside of the front panel. There doesn't seem to be panel screws, so how do I get the panel off ?

My dryer was working perfectly. I opened the door to take some laundry out damp, closed the door and tried to switch it back on, but nothing happened. Made sure there was nothing obstructing the barrel. Moved the barrel forward to make sure it wasn't stuck. Unplugged it then plugged it in several hours later. It must be the switch on the front panel. Not sure how to replace it!

Unplug your dryer (seriously, don't forget to do this.)

Using a thin screwdriver or putty knife and a cloth (to protect the painted surface) insert the screwdriver between the lid on the front left, then right and pry the lid up. There are no screws to remove to get the lid up, just two spring clips. Lift the lid and allow it to lean back. It will stay there nicely, but be careful that the lid does not get pushed back down with your fingers in there.

On the right hand side, there are two (white) connectors that you need to pull apart. With good light, you will see where to press to open them. You can not re-connect them wrong.

Look down inside the front of the lid-less dryer on the left then right side, you will see one Philips screw on each side that needs to be removed.

With the screws removed, pull forward on the front panel untill some clips release and the panel leans forward.

The bottom of the front panel sit on clips that do not need to be removed. You simply list the whole front panel straight up and you can then turn it around to get at the switches.

Hey, while you have the front off, vacuum the inside and pull all the lint out of the area beneath the lint screen which is all located on the front panel.

Inspect the belt, looking for wear. You can turn the drum easily with your hands. Also, the drum light is probably burned out. They ship with a lame night light that burns out really fast. I went to Home Depot and found an LED replacement (with the proper size base) which I am confident will last a long time.

Hope this helps.

How do i change out the upper felt guide nad the lower basket seal on a GLEQ642A frigidaire dryer. i am not a professional, but i think i can do/figure this out if i had the instructions.

Remove the top of the dryer by unsrewing the two phillips head connections at the rear.
Remove the four phillips head screws located near the top at the interior of the cabinet, two on either side which will release the front door and face.
Unclip the two electrical connections at the top right to the control panel. These are preformed plastic connectors
Undo the three electrical connections from the door switch. These are individual wires with "bayonet" connections. Write down order and placement for reinstallation.
Undo the two individual wire connections for the interior drum light which are also bayonet style connections. Write down order for reinstallation.
The door and face will now be free for servicing the felts.

A noise starts when i turn on,later disappears. I think is the bearing.

This is a very common problem with these dryers. The back bearing wears out fast. It's part no. 12 in this diagram. You have to remove front panels, top, and lift drum up and out to release from bearing. Hope this helps,

Dryer has power. When the start switch is turned,

Sounds like start winding inside the motor, or a start switch attached to the motor itself.

When i turn the on switch i hear a humming as if it is going to start but it does not. my dryer brand is Frigidaire FEQ 332 E s

Depending on the hum you hear (if you hear the sound and it keeps humming) the belt that connects the motor and the drum is probably broken.

If the hum only happens when you turn the on switch, the motor has probably failed.

Won't run

The most common cause of this is a failed motor (start up)
Recommend you swap in a new motor.

Brown streaks on clothes

mich, The brown streaks are probably caused by worn drum guides and lower basket seal. I've seen this quite often on Frigidaire dryers. Part numbers 5303937139 upper felt guide and 5303283286 lower basket seal. This can be a task for an inexperienced person but can be done. It requires removing the top panel and front panel/door assy. The old guides have to be scraped off. The upper felt guides and lower seal glue on. back.
