Question about Caterpillar Backhoe Tractor

Open Question

I have a Caterpillar 939C hi lift...I have no power to the ignition. I bypassed the kill switch but no use. Replace the batteries still no power.

I checked the Main breaker and it is not tripped and also checked all the fuses. I have not been able to find a wiring schematic for my particular model short of going to caterpillar which wants an arm and a leg.

SOURCE: Caterpillar 426c Problem will not shift Into

Transmission control valve is the problem. If it has the original plastic shift spools, they need to be replaced. Also, before you do anything, cut open the transmission & look for metal. If that's ok, then remove the plastic transmission shift spools & replace them with metal ones.

It would be the ignition or those ignition wires because of the kill switch being poorly installed, id try tracing wires first and replace anything thats been cut/spliced into. if not change the ignition

1997 Polaris rmk 700 has no spark. Kill switch is in run position and key is on. Sled ran fine last year. I get a little tail light when I pull starter rope

try bypassing the kill switch and the ignition switch. Often the switches fail before the other components. the ignition can usually be bypasses by simply unplugging it from the harness. You may have to loop the wires to bypass the kill switch.

I have no spark on my 94 ext and it has a new stator and cdi box and igntion coil

Bypass your ignition switch , kill switch, and carburetor safety switches(on the side of the carburetors). All common problems for older sleds (stopping spark). In the carburetors the magnets inside the slides come off killing the spark. There is a kill switch bypass wire in most arctic tool kits. Ignition switches are notorious for going bad and are easily bypassed by simply unplugging them.

1983 yamaha xj 650 no spark already changed the cdi coil plugs wires and mag pick up what next?

  • Do you see spark? If not, check the side stand kill switch. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. If broken or out of adjustment, it would kill the spark. Check for a broken wire at the side stand switch and coupler. Try moving the side stand kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it.
  • Is the handlebar kill switch on? Is it shorted out?
  • Are you getting power to the coils?
  • Check the fuses. How good is the battery? Try a jump start from your car battery.
  • Check the operation of the ignition switch and all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter. Check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires? Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up? If no neutral light, check the neutral switch and neutral switch wire on center or side casing. If still no spark, get CDI system and coils checked at the dealers shop.
