My needle is hitting the hook race when it lowers. It seems to be a going down a couple mm lower than it should be. I am using a Singer 9920. Any fixya tips out there?

Suggest that you check your needle to make sure it is lock fully up into the needle holder. If your needle is correctly installed, then it should be a needle/hook timing problem. Or if your rotary hook can be turn freely with your finger, it also indicates belting/gear problem. Do get your local technician to fix it.

My hook gear has gone bad, I have singer sewing machine model # 834, I need help with how to take the parts off and replace them

http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/singer-834-sewing-machine-parts.aspx

Follow this link, click on the hook gear parts, and you will see a link to a video showing how to install these gears. I was able to follow this video and replace the gears on my old machine. For me it was do-able, but moderately difficult. If you think you're up to it, go for it. Replacing all for gears a t once will cost $50. (Singer 834).

Rotating Hook won't fully turn-Singer 2210

The nylon gear driving the hook has probably broken a tooth. Replacements are available if you search the web.
Make sure you get the matched set of driving gear and driven gear.

Replacing broken gears on Singer Touch & Sew Model 648

Remove the plastic faceplate from the front of the machine. There is a Singer logo button that you will have to pop out to release it, and then the lever nobs to get around to get it off. You can then access the allen screw on the top gear.
Remove all the set screws on both the top and bottom gears on the vertical shaft. Put them in a safe place.
The vertical shaft sits directly below the horizontal shaft, but there is some space between them and wiggle room to do the following. If the shaft does not slip down easily, use a small diameter rod or screwdriver to gently tap the vertical shaft downward until the top gear slips off the end. Remove the gear.

The 132Q ahs a problem in the hook drive gear ,this is where it is seized up ,happens all the time ,from the back of the machine you can add lubricant to the hook gear and shaft but you will probably have to grab the gear with pliers etc and try to turn it once it loosens up it will be fine ,do not look elsewhere this hook drive shaft is the source of the problem.
