Thank god someone is attacking the situation, i felt this site would be hopeless. But i"ve had the laptop for not more than a year, i can't remember the exact date. Like a minute ago it happened again, i've started having this issue 4 days ago when i unknowingly placed a pillow on the charger adaptor and layed on it. After that day everything just seem to start going downhill, the charger indicator on the screen won't stop flashing on and off, the laptop won't stop shutting off before the battery life is completely depleted and when it does a blue screen comes up with some writing like pretty fast and it just automatically starts rebooting.

Sorry to hear that. How long have you had the laptop? When has this started happening? It could be hardware failure. If you can try to catch the first 3 words or if there is an error code, try to provide me with it. I will try to see what I can do.

Thanks,

SOURCE: My computer keeps restarting itself

What operating system are you using? Windows XP? What was the last thing installed? IE7 or regular Windows updates. Assuming Windows 2000 or higher, press F8 every couple of seconds during the initial boot process. Select "Safe Mode". Once at the desktop you have a couple of options depending on your configuration. Attempt "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", "System Restore". Following the prompts, choose the latest date in bold prior to the lastest installed software. If system restore is off, choose "Start", "Control Panel", "Add / Remove Software", remove IE7 or latest installed software.

SOURCE: Can't reload windows xp. Keeps shutting down???? Acer 2700 Laptop

this happens when you have errors with the hard drive not responding to the new boot or drivers not responding. is this a clean install or a restore? if you are not using the original xp disk the machine came with you may get these errors. the blue screen usually has a message in it. let me know what it says if you get a second.

SOURCE: presario 2200 laptop won't start up-goes to

Did you do this below?

This is called the BSOD (blue screen of Death) this usually occurs if you have recently installed either a new piece of hardware with a driver that has conflicted with Windows.

1. Unplug all you USB peripherals while the PC is shutdown

2. Press F8 while the PC is booting up its difficult to know when to do it so I usually press it twice with 5 seconds between presses.

3. Select last known good configuration and see if your PC will start this might be all that it needs.

If this fails unless you have a boot CD that allows you to recover the DOS or on some laptops like Evesham they have PC angel installed I am not sure if the Compaq Presario has this but you can use Hirens Boot CD or some other to try and restore the files,

I am sure that the CAB files that are required will still be on the laptop unless someone has removed then to save space.you may have to take it back to factory defaults, you will loose all installs and documents though its a bit drastic but it should get you back up and running.

Hope this helps please rate my post if it helps you.

SOURCE: Laptop randomly shuts down

This problem might be occur due to old BIOS version installed on the laptop.
If your system shut down unexpectedly within 10-20 minutes while playing games or scanning the system which takes high cpu usages then the problem is of BIOS and try to install the new BIOS version.
for that visit the site of your laptop company.

Msi wind u160 does not start

The wording is Press DEL (DELETE) key to enter setup.

It sounds as if your keyboard is not working, try plugging in a USB keyboard to see if you can regain control over the computer.

Power button not working

You didn't say Windows what? makes a big difference you gotta know. Have you tried a safe mode start up by tapping F8 a few times key right after Bios screen blanks & before Win. screen appears. Once in the boot menu choose safe mode. Let it boot then try decreasing the video settings & restart. if that"s not the fix restart in SM & uninstall video driver. It should reinstall a working driver on next start up.

I went out from my room just 5 minutes and after I came back I saw an error message on the screen, a big one on a dark blue background but I didn t have time to read it, I just saw the word error after 3...

I think it is your RAM chip. If you have 2 RAM chips put the one from the second bank and put it in the first and see if it boots up. RAM is pretty cheap now anyhow.

Msi u100 shuts down when power cord is removed. battery is fully charged. blue light on panel not coming on.

Sounds like a faulty battery. It's saying it's charged but obviously isn't. Best to check the battery contacts are clean first though obviously, otherwise try another battery.

I have an Acer 3680 laptop and just now it was making with odd kricking noise, like it sounded like it may have been the fan or something. And then a blue screen came up so i shut it down like it told me...

The noise could have been the read/write mechanism inside the disk-drive grinding against the recording surfaces of the disk-drive.

So, your best plan:
* buy a new disk-drive
* reinstall Windows onto the new disk-drive
* copy all your "data" files from the old disk-drive to the new disk-drive, and do this *BEFORE* the old disk-drive *COMPLETELY* "dies".

Blue Screen

please remove battery and ac-power for a couple of minutes and then try to reboot the computer.

if it still doesnt work, shut it down, remove battery and ac.
remove ram
connect ac-power
try to boot without ram
remove ac power
insert ram
insert battery
connect ac and try to boot again.

when the blue screen appear, please write down the top line that looks something similar to this:

IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL_ETC_ETC

and the line close to the bottom that says

STOP: 0x000021 (0x000+++alot of not needed numbers)

when you have done that please come back to me.
