Question about MSI Computers & Internet
The charger sign also keeps going on and off, even before the laptop battery dies it just shuts down and i dont know what's wrong because im not a computer wiz
Sorry to hear that. How long have you had the laptop? When has this started happening? It could be hardware failure. If you can try to catch the first 3 words or if there is an error code, try to provide me with it. I will try to see what I can do.

What operating system are you using? Windows XP? What was the last thing installed? IE7 or regular Windows updates. Assuming Windows 2000 or higher, press F8 every couple of seconds during the initial boot process. Select "Safe Mode". Once at the desktop you have a couple of options depending on your configuration. Attempt "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools", "System Restore". Following the prompts, choose the latest date in bold prior to the lastest installed software. If system restore is off, choose "Start", "Control Panel", "Add / Remove Software", remove IE7 or latest installed software.

this happens when you have errors with the hard drive not responding to the new boot or drivers not responding. is this a clean install or a restore? if you are not using the original xp disk the machine came with you may get these errors. the blue screen usually has a message in it. let me know what it says if you get a second.

Did you do this below?
This is called the BSOD (blue screen of Death) this usually occurs if you have recently installed either a new piece of hardware with a driver that has conflicted with Windows.
1. Unplug all you USB peripherals while the PC is shutdown
2. Press F8 while the PC is booting up its difficult to know when to do it so I usually press it twice with 5 seconds between presses.
3. Select last known good configuration and see if your PC will start this might be all that it needs.
If this fails unless you have a boot CD that allows you to recover the DOS or on some laptops like Evesham they have PC angel installed I am not sure if the Compaq Presario has this but you can use Hirens Boot CD or some other to try and restore the files,
I am sure that the CAB files that are required will still be on the laptop unless someone has removed then to save space.you may have to take it back to factory defaults, you will loose all installs and documents though its a bit drastic but it should get you back up and running.
Hope this helps please rate my post if it helps you.

Testimonial: "IT DIDN'T HELP BUT I DO THANK YOU"
SOURCE: Laptop randomly shuts down
This problem might be occur due to old BIOS version installed on the laptop.
If your system shut down unexpectedly within 10-20 minutes while playing games or scanning the system which takes high cpu usages then the problem is of BIOS and try to install the new BIOS version.
for that visit the site of your laptop company.
