Question about Zenith B25A10Z 25" TV
My picture is breaking down into horizontal lines. About midway in the screen there is kind of a horizon line. The lines are wider above it; tighter below it. This happened suddenly. The set was manufactured in September of 1996. Can I fix this or try some adjustment? If not, what might the repair costs be? Is it worth it or is my TV saying goodbye? Your advice is greatly appreciated.
The problem sounds like a vertical deflection issue form what you describe.
On average they are usually in the simple repair categories. On average they would run in the $50 range if you take it to a reputable repair shop.
There are several possibilities
Bad capacitor (s)
Bad vertical IC
resistor in the power supply to the vertical circuit changing value
