SOURCE: Bushnell repair parts

After searching for a pair of eyecups for my early 70s Sportview 7X50, I made my own with nylon webbing (from a dog leash) held on with skinny wire ties. They're black, they're soft, and they look like Harrison Ford took them on a trip to Machu Picchu. Tom

I think you mean the two sides are not quite pointing in the same direction. This is called collimation, as in "the collimation is out". Alignment would be the everyday word. In binoculars, collimation faults are usually the result of a knock causing one of the prisms to shift slightly. It can be simple to put right, for a skilled person who knows what he is doing, if adjustments are available. Or the binoculars may need disassembly and an optical bench. I imagine that you would be able to replace these more cheaply than fix them, unless they are very high quality or collectable. I have made a mess of a few pair, and had a few successes, always with binocs that were uneconomic to have repaired professionally.

SOURCE: I have an old tasco 7x-15x35 zoom binocular.

Measure the diameter needed and then check bicycle inner tube diameters. Cut a short section, roll a quarter-inch inside-out, slip over the eyepiece, roll the other end inside-out to form a nice soft shoulder. Costs nearly nothing, works dandy.

Broken eyepiece, 1940s vintage 7x50 individual focus binocular. Need hard rubber or bakelite replacements. eyepiece threads onto brass adapter ring (1 3/16in outside, 7/8in inside)

Here in Melbourne, Australia I make these for people who need them. I also have a reasonable amount of stock generic ones. The question is not so much the size of the ring, but the thread size, the depth of the eyecup (depends upon the magnification) which sets your eye at the correct distance behind the eyepiece (eye relief) and the size of the central hole to suit the size of the eye lens. There would be other small engineering companies that could make one for you out of delrin.

Eye rubber for 7X50 military marine

You can get the green eyecups for the military marine model from steinerpartsdirect.com I can also recommend changing the standard neck strap with a neoprene one for an older Steiner Nighthunter that is non cliclock. Makes for a much more confortable carry. Just make sure it is one that loops and isn't click lock.
